Just saw that OH Nicole Walch made the A2 team. Is she the only one from FSU who tried out who made it? Wickstrom? Burrington? Mosher? Green? Sarah Burrington made the Junior National Team Roster and will travel to Czech Republic in June. Both Mosher and Wickstrom are focused on playing sand this summer. Wickstrom made All American Sand this spring. Mara Green did not try out for A2...rehabbing injury but will be good to go come August. Noticed that the top hitter, Taylor Hollins from Miami transferred to San Diego. With new coaching and the setting situation still under question due to injury does everyone still think they will be pre season #1 in the ACC? My bet is on Florida State winning their 3rd ACC in a row..

Yes, I was very impressed with Elise Walch watching her in the tournament! She hits a mean ball on the RS and should be a primary option for them this year. I won't lie, I was stupidly doubtful of her ability to play competitively as an attacker/blocker because of reasons that you can imagine. I will never judge a player like that (a book by its cover) without seeing a good dose of their play again. Elise is a great player and I look forward to seeing what she can do this upcoming season! *She almost went to Minnesota, shoot! Would've made a nice RS replacement to Harms for us this upcoming season. Oh well. Elise Walch has been working extremely hard in the off season. She has lost over 50 pounds and continues to work on endurance and conditioning. Wait till you see her on the court come August ! It is her senior year and she wants to leave Florida State as one of the top Right Side hitters in school history !

Prep Volleyball Top Recruiting class for 2013: Florida State listed with Highest Honorable mention for it's 2013 incoming class of:
Setter -Hailey Luke (Senior Ace # 40) Right Side Hitter- Izzy Carmona (Senior Ace # 63)
Since FSU had the #3 Recruiting Class in the country in 2012..two of those top Senior Aces redshirted in 2012 seaason (OH,Mikesky and MB,Burrington) so essentially 4 years of eligibility left...the winning tradition will continue strong
GO NOLES !!

Elise has been known as one of the hardest hitters in the game and a great player for her "size". Looks like we will get to see just how good she really is without any issue of her conditioning. She will be a very dangerous player this fall.

Rumors going around that assistant coach, Gokhan Yilmaz may be leaving the Florida State Volleyball program.. looks like that's all they were...
Announced today that he has been promoted to Associate Head Coach at Florida State. Congratulations to Gokhan. So it looks like the coaching staff at FSU is intact and moving forward towards that goal of another ACC Championship in 2013 and a deep run in NCAA post season.
Go Noles !!!!

Having watched her as a freshman at Wisconsin, I always wondered what could be if she slimmed down. She has quite the arm. I hope she has a great season and gets to see all her hard work pay off.

Congratulations to FSU MB, Sarah Burrington. Announced today she made the final cut for the USA Junior National Team and will be competing for Team USA in the Czech Republic at FIVB World Championships.
Sarah red shirted her freshman season at FSU behind AAs Ashley Neff and Sareea Freeman. With Sareea graduated, Sarah will step into that critical MB position come August.. This national team experience will give her great playing time just prior to pre-season !!
Go Noles !!!!

Summer Updates on the Noles:
OH Nicole Walch did extremely well at the Women's A2s in Dallas.. Led her Gold team to a 2nd place finish and was the leading scorer on her team. In fact, was among the best in stats with all hitters at the A2 this summer. This will bode well for her taking a key hitting role this fall since AA Fatma Yildirin has graduated.
Freshman setter Hailey Luke and Right Side hitter, Izzy Carmona are on campus this summer taking classe and conditioning with team. Both will be great adds to the team. Have been officially added to the 2013 Roster.(Bios are impressive) Both had exemplary junior careers. It will be interesting to see how this transitions to the collegiate game.
MB,Sarah Burrinton back from her summer experience on the Junior National team that played in the World Championships in Chezch Republic..Tremendous experience gained as she also will take on a key role filling in for AA, Sareea Freeman.
Search for a new assistant coach still ongoing to replace the much loved, Holly Watts who took the head coaching job at UTEP. Confident that Coach Poole will bring in the right coach for the job.
The ACC landscape changes dramatically this season with the add of 3 new teams. Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pitt.. How this will look come end of conference season? My prediction is that Florida State will rise to the occassion and win the ACC for a 3rd straight year.

Sorry, VolleyVolley, I beleive this is UNC's year. They finished strong last year, gained invaluable experience in the NCAA tourney, have a lot of talent returning and they are due despite having good teams(last title in 2008). It will be a battle with Miami also in the mix, but I think the 'Heels will prevail. Let the speculation begin.

Looks like FSU's Head Coach Poole landed a solid new Associate Head Coach in Ryan McGuyre from Maryland. Although he was only at Maryland for one season he brings a solid record of many years of past acheievement with him to to the Lady Noles program.
Anyone out there in Volleytalk Land care to comment on the new FSU coach ?
Pre-season practice starts August 10th so he is getting there just in time.
