Interestingly enough, our geriatric crowd seems to get the fact a good pass leads to better setting. Maybe you should try sitting among them and some knowledge will rub off. Even with good passing neither setter, particularly Hannah, is consistent, much less amazing. With your vast knowledge you should be able to see that, right? Ask the geriatrics surrounding you to lend you their spectacles to help you see.

Here's a very simplistic volleyball 101 for Elevation - When the UT fans chant "WE" that is the pass. When the UT fans chant "ARE" that is the set which you are 100% critical of when Collins is setting. When the UT fans chant "TEXAS" that is the kill happening due to Webster or Eckerman 99.9% of the time when Hannah is setting. Next time you watch a match, focus your attention on when the fans are chanting "WE". See where the ball goes. A perfect pass is one that basically lands right on top of the setter's head, where she has all of her hitting options available to her. If the pass is so bad that she's running for the ball or trying to fish it out of the net like was going on last night then it's going to make the setter look mediocre to a novice. There were some pretty crappy passes fished out of the net and turned into great sets by that "mediocre" setter last night. Maybe go back and watch the LHN broadcast and see if you can identify those. Chloe's setting was not consistent last night, she got pulled because her sets were really flat when he pulled her. But I'm really concerned you have no concept that great passing leads to great setting. Harping on setters and saying that switching them out will be the reason we lose in the NCAA playoffs is wrong....we will make an early exit due to poor passing. So wrong. "If the pass is so bad that she's running for the ball or trying to fish it out of the net like was going on last night then it's going to make the setter look mediocre to a novice. There were some pretty crappy passes fished out of the net and turned into great sets by that "mediocre" setter last night." The TX setters can't hit the pin consistently on free ball passes, and that includes your precious Chloe!!!! Do you need me to chart that sh*t?!?!?!?! A good or great setter can effortlessly make a pass to the ten foot line to the right position 9/10 times. Even when they're running for a ball, it gets placed well. Watch Lauren Cook from last year. Watch Carlini this year. Defend all you like, but you couldn't pick a good setter out of your but*

Do you know why she went to Webster and Eckerman in the 4th set over and over again? To win the match. Don't think for a minute that Elliott didn't instruct her to do that. He was worried about losing game 4 to TCU and needed his senior setter to rescue the team by doing what she does best - setting 2 of the tops OH's in the country. You are the one that insinuates that fact that Hannah is the goddess of Texas volleyball. I'm just pointing out the fact that any setter is good when you have a passer like Sha and neither do so yeah thats why we went into 4 sets with a team that is garbage. I'm so glad you know exactly what JE told Hannah. Get out of here. Goddess? No just experience and leadership and can block and kill at the right time - - like last night.
And not to hard to come up with the game plan to win the match - - set Eckerman and Webster. Sorry if that bugs you.

I've seen Carlini in action and YES, she is a really good setter!

Do you know why we won the national championship last year? It wasn't because of Hannah. It was because of Sha. Sha passed nails the entire season and its easy to set a team to a national championship when you don't have to move to set the ball. Our ball control is down bc Sha isn't there. Chloe is IMO, better than Hannah, with the exception of blocking. Chloe had 18 assists in the first set with mediocre passing and then the passing went even more downhill. Hannah is just so predicatable. We all know you're going to Bailey. Our middles and rightside got so much less action once Hannah stepped foot on the court and you could see the frustration in their faces. Translation:

Too bad she won't get close enough to sniff a final four during her career at Wisconsin, she'll graduate with just as many championships as Cook. While our %*$#ty setters will have their memories of winning championships and celebrations Cook & Carlini will at least have their memories of their pinpoint setting.

Her all-around game was very good. It took great performances from a dozen players last year to win the championship. Sha wanted to win a NC very, very badly.

My only concern isn't who sets at this moment, is if we will have a stationary setter come post season. Not only a stationary setter, but one that if able to distribute the ball to all hitters. Ogbogu,McCage , and Bell produce amazing numbers everynight but get a third (if even) of the sets that Haley and Bailey get. I understand the pass has alot to do with that, and the fact that Texas has two of the most athletic OH in the country, but teams like USC and Washington, will set up camp and lunch on the pins. TCU last night in the fourth game gave up on defending the middle and right and didn't even look in a direction other than Haley and Bailey, they stuffed a couple balls of them so if TCU can do it imagine the likes of a top 10 team.....

Actually, TCU only had 1 block in game 4. They did dig several of the attempts by Eckerman and Webster during game 4. I watched the replay of the match today on the LHN and there were more sets to Chiaka, Bell and McCage in game 4 than I remembered. But yes the strategy in game 4 was to go consistently to Webster and Eckerman, especially when TCU took a quick 5 - 1 lead.

If we were playing with refs from 5-10 years ago, Hannah would have been called for more than the one ball handling error she got whistled for. Not pretty. Wow, I thought they won the Nat'l Championship because last year because they beat everyone as a team. Did not know that it was because of Sha. Well, they are in trouble, because Sha is not on the team.

It really honestly doesn't bug me as much as it just just becomes apparent that we wont win again if that's what we are gonna do. We had a decent balance in the tournament because our passing was so much better. Sha passed better than anyone else on the team last year. HANDS DOWN!
