Y'all leave tempesthorn alone, lol. He makes some good points. Yellowvfan you know you're guilty of posting some snide comments that can come of as obnoxious online. I think everyone can agree that this team still has a lot to work out to repeat a championship. Namaste. The dude is a mess. Done. Good luck. Hope you enjoy life alone and miserable. If you're done then the post I made will go down in my book as mission accomplished. I'm still baffled by someone that jumps on a thread in the morning to post about Collins - "80% of her sets are in tempo and to the pin" and "Chloe does have a great back set, be it a back 1, 5 or a slide. She had much better connections with the middle" to a post by you around 3:30 that says "The TX setters can't hit the pin consistently on free ball passes, and that includes your precious Chloe!!!! Do you need me to chart that sh*t?!?!?!?!" So you want to chart for me that 80% of Chloe's sets go to the pin to prove your point she can't consistently hit the pin? ? Are you incapable of logic or just bipolar? Either way I'm glad you're done. Seriously dude, make an appointment with a mental health professional today as the meds aren't strong enough, the Lithium obviously starts to wear off around 3. I've watched Homeland and it seems like that CIA agent has a real tough time getting her meds right too.

I've watched Homeland and it seems like that CIA agent has a real tough time getting her meds right too. My problem is I don't give up... Guess I need to define consistency and my expectation of a good setter on a free ball pass. I think, in a top D1 program, when a setter gets a good pass they should be able to hit the pin and correct location from the net 95% of the time. 80% location on a good pass, particularly when it's a simple high ball to the outside IS NOT GOOD for a D1 setter from a great program.

I sort of think you are splitting hairs on the 80% versus 95%. If I cared more I'd go back and watch the DVR and chart it for YOU. Texas charts passes on a 3-2-1 system. I have no idea if everyone uses that or not. What's your definition of a good pass...a 3 or a 2? I ask because I would guess that the number of balls passed to the 3 on Wednesday night in the two sets she played were less than a handful. So 80% is 4 out of 5. She missed one. BFD. Hannah's location on sets to the pin has always been less than perfect.
I also think the thing you refuse to clue in on when it comes to Texas' program, it's altitude versus location to the pin. I don't think they are applying a 95% standard or in any way are working towards that high of a standard in practice. The focus is on getting Webster and Eckerman high sets. I think Chloe struggles with getting it as high as the outsides want it and her location suffers. I was in Hawaii for the San Diego match when she was setting the quicker tempo, lower sets to the outside and the location looked good to me. (I am going to get crucified for that comment because we played horribly in that San Diego match overall and Webster in particular was getting blocked and not terminating the lower sets and if Hannah had not come in with the higher balls we would have lost) For setting purists I'm sure this concept is nails on a chalkboard but they won a national championship with the high sets. I don't expect the approach to change until Webster graduates.

Goddess? No just experience and leadership and can block and kill at the right time - - like last night.
And not to hard to come up with the game plan to win the match - - set Eckerman and Webster. Sorry if that bugs you.
It really honestly doesn't bug me as much as it just just becomes apparent that we wont win again if that's what we are gonna do. We had a decent balance in the tournament because our passing was so much better. Sha passed better than anyone else on the team last year. HANDS DOWN! With you 100% about the importance of not having McNeal on the team this year. A national championship team that brings back all players but one should not have many worries, but as you have stated, that's not the case. It's not every player who can hit, block, serve, & pass like her. The nice thing is that we all recognized that in her while she was on the team.
So what do we do without her? I think you have to rely on your stars and experience. That's why I am in Allison's camp 100%. Not because she is a great setter, but because of her leadership and experience and knowing what needs to be done to win. She's not Sha Dare but she does embody the qualities of Sha Dare - - she can serve, block, play defense and hit at the right time - - like she did against TCU. And I love her steadiness on the court. You don't see her get flustered out there. It's nothing personal against Collins who has good athleticism and can set the middles. She's just undersized and not experienced this early in her career at Texas.
As for the passing, we are who we are and it's really not going to change much. I think Palmer is having a very good senior season. I like Brooks and think Neal's experience is a plus over Victoria at this point. I wish Eckerman did not play back row so she could focus on hitting, but others have pointed out that we don't have enough subs to do that. I like Victoria, but not at the expense of Chiaka who has the potential to be a difference maker as a hitter if Eckerman or Webster have an off night.
I think it's going to be tough to repeat. As you have stated, not having McNeal is a factor. Just hope Elliott relies on experience and leadership to go along with his front row talent and that we go on a nice run in December.

Here's your litany of sins - 1. In your vendetta against Collins you suggest that she should never have been recruited and instead we should have recruited a current high school senior who wanted to come here. The last part being a fabrication you made up to further your vendetta. The highlight of this was, you did all this before she'd ever played a set. 2. You post that I'm a friend of the Collins family to explain why I'm defending her. Another fabrication you made up to discredit someone who disagrees with you. 3. You post that Jerritt threw the blame on Haley Wednesday night on LHN without every seeing the interview. Something you had no idea of the veracity of but why not throw it out there just in case. The nature of the internet is such that liars like you are given free reign to post lies without any repercussions, so by all means continue spreading lies to support your opinions. When a liar calls me out it does not matter to me in the least.

But Khat and Molly also need reps because they are just as good if not better than Chiaka. Numbers aside. Like you said if haley and bailey have an off game, we need to be able to actually set middle and chi. Hannah just doesn't do that. Maybe things will get better. I'm just all about spreading the wealth because if you don't then we'll pay for it later. We seem like the only team in America right now that don't have a starting setter pinned in yet. lol.

Yes on McCage and Bell. I got lazy and left them out of my comments. McCage has improved significantly this season with her offense. She loves that slide. I listed Chiaka because some have recommended Victoria play for her so she can also pass in the backrow.
We won with Hannah last season and can win with her again. I feel confident we won't lose because of her. I don't feel the same way about Collins because of her height and inexperience.

The decision on a starter is entirely on the head coach. Most teams don't have two setters who are very good but this team does. Most good teams pass more consistently than Texas. Few teams have as high an expectation of winning as Texas does. It is a myth that Allison doesn't/can't set the middle or rs when that is a viable option. This is the time of year that Texas should be settling into a lineup and developing a rhythm and executing gameplans.

I don't want anyone to think I agree with all your opinions though so I fixed it for you: It is a myth that Allison can't set the middle or rs when that is a viable option. It is a baffling that Allison doesn't set the middle or rs more often when that is a viable option. * * See late in the fourth set against TCU when a decent transition pass was made, TCU was camping out on the left and Haley got rejected. Bell would have gotten a better blocking matchup IMO and you hopefully wouldn't have been at 23-23 in the fourth facing a very real danger of going to 5.
