Doug Beal's place in volleyball is seriously understated in that release. I know. It's not about him, but still. It doesn't even mention gold medals.

Hey, MN SPORTS, a while ago you assured/guaranteed us that Rosado was going to be on the 2014 roster. What happened? Looks like it worked out! The arrival of Rosado and Goehner is huge. Both will help with passing/digging, and SR, by far the biggest need for the Gophers! I could definitely envision Hugh going with a lineup as the season progresses of Alyssa Goehner as the OH2, Rosado at Libero, and Lawmaster/Bohl as a DS.

I'll repeat. We have no idea if Rosado is good enough to displace Lawmaster. People are making way too many assumptions.
Not that I'm not glad she's coming so we/they can find out (how good she is). But I'm also looking forward to seeing how much LL improves in her last two years here.

Video of Rosado. Definitely not against Big 10 competition, but she is very solid. Shows off her attacking ability at the end. A nice bonus if ever needed.

Our offense isn't nearly where it was the last two years to be able to cover up our passing problems this year, and we need some real improvement in that category to make up for the loss of offense. From the sound of things this spring, it hasn't come. *This is where we are hoping Goehner and Rosado can help out!

I will go out on a limb and say it won't be as good as the last time they went abroad for a libero. If it is, she will be an amazing player.

I will go out on a limb and say it won't be as good as the last time they went abroad for a libero. If it is, she will be an amazing player. I'm just wondering who you're referring to? If you mean Gentil, I believe she played high school and club ball in Florida. From www.gophersports.comwww.gophersports.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/110205aaa.html "In January of 2000, Gentil moved to Florida with her father where she attended Lake Highland Prep in Orlando, Fla. Gentil chose to move to the United States to learn English, since she was the only one in her family who did not know the language at the time. The move ended up rekindling her love for volleyball. After moving to Orlando, Gentil started to get a little bored and wanted to find something to fill her time. She ended up turning back to volleyball when she joined the Orlando Volleyball Academy Club. “When I joined the Orlando Volleyball Academy Club, volleyball became fun again,” said Gentil. “I met a lot of great people, we traveled to play a lot of different teams and the style of volleyball was completely different from Brazil. It was like a whole new experience that was very refreshing to me.” Gentil had originally planned to return to Brazil after high school, and told her club coach as much. However, her club coach continued to keep the lines of communication open with colleges that had planned to recruit Gentil. Minnesota entered the picture at a club tournament at which former Golden Gopher assistant Brian Heffernan was scouting another player. As Heffernan was walking across the many courts at the club tournament, Gentil’s play caught his eye. Heffernan called Minnesota head coach Mike Hebert to tell him about Gentil. The rest is history."

This video of Rosado doesn't show much. Hard to watch too.
Was Bohl initially recruited as an outside and they developed her into a ds/lib?

I don't know. She was always compared to Cowles. I'm not sure they ever really saw her as a hitter, not a starting one anyhow.

The left-side DS in the first part, I assume. And the left-side hitter in the 2nd part? The teams are playing at about 1/4 the speed of D1, too.
