Who listens to a radio interview of a VB coach in the middle of April, and then posts the interview in verbatim on Volleytalk? Talk about being invested... The same people who read volleytalk all year round? I don't think you were making fun, but based on the talking heads on sports tv, you'd think football was year 'round too. We love you RB! I am only disappointed there is no King Tut reference, as I believe there have been in other print articles. Hope you are a lucky winner of the in-person season ticket delivery this year. You deserve it. You know what's funny? I try to go to several away matches (ok, at least one) or tournaments each fall. Usually, parents will ask me if I am relative of one of the players (after all, it is usually the same 30 Wisconsin fans in the stands for away games, for the most part). I also occasionally get asked if I am a student (this is quite comical because not only did I not go there, but I graduated from college before nearly all these kids were born). So even parents are perplexed that there are fans who care enough to follow the team really closely.

What's really bizarre is that a person would go on volleytalk in April, search through the threads, click on the thread about Wisconsin, click on a specific post about Wisconsin and then ask "what sort of person would post something about Wisconsin from a radio show?"

Speaking of Carlini, does anyone remember the thread with the pic of Carlini as baby Jesus?

Whoa Nellie! I know Dorothy never posts anything that can be scrutinized. My post was, Wow - it's hard to believe that over 4 months from VB season that anybody would take specific notes on a Coach's interview and then post it 100% accurate. That is a committed fan. Most fans would never go that far. That's all! If my process is bizarre, I guess I'm starting to fit in here. Remember fan comes from fanatic!

Yes, I admit that as a fan, I take volleyball at Wisconsin just as seriously as a lot of fans do football or basketball. For me, I care more about volleyball than those sports because I can actually afford tickets and go to most or all of the home matches, rather than maybe attend one game a year.

I have a similar "fanaticism" about Illini volleyball as some UW fans have for Badger vb. I appreciate VT posters like Rainbowbadger taking the time and making the effort to summarize Coach Sheffield's comments on VT. Although I am not a Wisconsin fan (my uncle retired from teaching there and still lives in Madison with his wife), I am a volleyball fan, a B1G Volleyball fan, and a Coach Sheffield fan. In his first season at UW, Sheffield has certainly made a splash in Madison, in the B1G, and in the collegiate volleyball scene.
If a VTer is not interested in all things involving Wisconsin Badger volleyball, why click on a thread entitled "Wisconsin 2014"?
Keep up the great posting Badger volleyball fanatics!

Agreed with everyone. If you don't like what rainbowbadger post, don't click on the Wisconsin thread. I find it idiotic when people complain about volleyball stuff being posted. This is VOLLEYTALK. That's what the site is for. To discuss volleyball.
I wish nothing but the best of luck to Wisconsin in their 2014 season. They certainly will have a target on their back, but they have the skill to overcome it

I am a fan of a lot of programs, and I appreciate when someone posts information that I was not able to obtain firsthand by being there. Those programs that I am not as interested in, I just don't read. To blast someone for giving information seems silly. Don't read the ones that do not interest you, that simple.

I'm curious about how it came to be that Kriskova transferred to Wisconsin--not why she left VCU, not whether it is a good thing for her or Wisconsin, but simply how she ended up in Madison. Does anybody know? It's easier to imagine an American player knowing about different programs and coaches from information gleaned from their club days or their own recruiting adventures, or from high school or club teammates who landed hither and yon, or from club coaches. It's more of a mystery when the player came from Eastern Europe. Does she have any ties to Wisconsin? Was she inspired by the way the team performed during the tournament? Given her HM AA status, I assume she had lots of options. Was Wisconsin her first choice?

Wiscosnin is a great college, but I don't think they were getting the request for transfers like they are this year. Sheff is probably getting numerous offers (nebraska gets request offers weekly, if not daily if I remember correctly). Wisconsin is definitely more of a desirable school for volleyball players now

In the North Carolina non-conference tournament last September, the Badgers played and won a match (3-2) in which she had 16 kills for VCU. Otherwise, I believe Dayton and VCU played regularly in the Atlantic Ten Conference. He would have seen her play as a rookie, but I have no idea how she became a Badger.

Sheffield would have coached against her at Dayton and at Wisconsin...also I think he was recruiting one of her old teammates last year (Samadan) so she might have been following them a little closer than other schools. I heard she reached out to a lot of the top schools and visited at least one other in the Big 10.

I heard she reached out to a lot of the top schools and visited at least one other in the Big 10. Those are good points. Those things probably have something to do with it. We will probably have the opportunity to find out more directly from her within the next few months. Come fall, the local newspapers are likely to do a story about the newcomers. I remember that the student newspaper interviewed Morey last year. Jon Arias usually manages to interview each player on the radio during the season. And there is typically a Q&A for fans after the Cardinal & White scrimmage in August.
