If you are a player in the Midwest and want to be recognized as a great player that will compete and be in these conversations, make a move to get some sunshine in your life and get into the top conference with the top teams. I'm pretty sure with that statement alone, you have cemented yourself as mayor of Ignorantville. It's not a lie. Look at the womens side. The AA list are usually dominated by the pac 12 and big ten. That's because they're the top confrence and produce the best players. The pac 12 has produced the POY every year since 2001 besides 03, 05, 06, 08, and 09. Since 2010 it's been pac12 POY. And the other years went to hawaii, penn state, ohio state and nebraska. All top teams. The fact is he too teams in the top confrences produce the best players.

So I guess for example these OSU players aren't interested in being recognized as "great" players or All-American conversations. 2 Danny Baker Libero 5-9 SR Newport Harbor, Calif. You guys says what you want about ignorance, but history tells no lies. It just makes you ignorant to assume that the miva or eiva will get more all Americans than the Mpsf anytime soon. That's not what you are saying, but stop being butt hurt about it, miva isn't as good as the Mpsf. Except Loyola, that whole team should all be the poy, sander isn't that good.

I'm saying those players weren't good enough to go to the Mpsf, or get the necessary scholarship money to go to the Mpsf. How many of those players are going to get it? A player would have been on that list, except wait, he led the country in digs and didn't get %*$# for it, so he came to the Mpsf. He's doing a great job and he should be in the conversation. Thank you for feeding me that gem of a comeback.

With Anderson at OH1, OH2 will have to be a great serve receiver. If Troy and Clark can't play at OPP, perhaps Sander could give it a try. IMHO the OH2 position will be the biggest problem. Setting with Christenson/Shaw and L with Shoji are just fine. Matt's passing has made a progression every year so the "need" for a lockdown O2 passer is not as essential as so many traditionally think. Is Jeff Menzel out of the picture? The guy has physical tools that are rarely seen in our game and I am curious where he is at.

He's not saying the these players can't be recognized AA. He's saying it's much harder. Confrence plays a huge role in AA. Kelsey Robinson for example was a third team AA with Tennessee but once she got to nebraska, she was a first teamer and in the running for POY. No could you attribute to cook improving her game? Sure. But slot of it was because she played for nebraska. A top team in the best conference. The mpsf dominated the mens side, and just so happens that's the west coast. So that's why the west in the powerhouse. It's more about the conference than the side you're on.

And tbh, the best players usually come from the best confrences. The womens olympic team was composed of mainly pac12 and b1g players.

I can think of an EIVA player right now that may ....may end up having a higher ceiling than any of those projected "1st teamers" .

I'm on the same page as wahine. Vbc was saying my statement was ignorant when I was proving a point. And to future, yes and no, those Ohio state guys might want to be, but they won't be. Brennan Anderson jumped ship after leading the country in digs and now he is doing a great job in the Mpsf. He will probably be overlooked though for whatever reason. But the fact remains, he took a step closer by coming to the Mpsf, he would still be nobody at Ohio.

Of course some of the players from the weaker conferences are overlooked. But that's because the best in the mpsf play the best. You may have the next star in the eiva, but since he can't show his talent against the best, they tend to be overlooked. It sucks but it's just how the game works. But traditionally, the best are usually in the best conferences. The only teams on the women side that constantly produce AA, and even first team AA, that aren't in the b1g or pac12 are hawaii and Texas and Texas benefited from constantly making it far in the tournament. Florida as well. Pacific and lbsu used to dominate the AA list, but thats when the Big west was the powerhouse of womens volleyball.

Um.....there is ONLY....ONLY 35 TOTAL men's volleyball programs in the MIVA,EIVA,MPSF and CC so it's really not hard to realize nor find out who is ok, good, really good and great. The coaches in all the leagues know who these players are and while "to the victor goes the spoils" is part of the game I have found the coaches in the Men's game are very repsectful of each other and supportive of the other leagues......maybe because they have to. The Women's game is very very different and very difficult to use as a reference point.

The womens game is more hard to predict, but I assure you, if the good players transfered to the mpsf, they would get more recognition
