I don't recall Wisconsin ever being as bad as Iowa has been during the past few seasons. PSUVOLLEY You really are a total Ass!!! So answer me this, How was Penn State before Russ Rose got there? Were they good? I know i am going to get thrown to the wolves for this but didnt Iowa take a set off Penn State this year? They must be HORRIBLE if they can take a set off the almighty Penn State Nittany Lions. Give these girls a break, I know you wouldnt want someone else talking about your daughter this way. And no I dont have a daughter on the team nor do I have any ties to Iowa Hawkeye Volleyball, I just get tired of seeing people like you slam these young ladies!! It is very curious that psuvolley keeps chiming in with negative comments on a thread that originally had NOTHING to do with the team he supposedly supports. I'm looking forward to seeing Iowa play this spring, hopefully with a new 'spring' in their step.

He is a fan of a university that did the absolute minimum when child abuse took place on its campus.

The Wisconsin effect is in full bloom at Iowa. Everyone has elevated expectations that are verging on the ridiculous. I'm pretty sure the coaching staff is realistic in their plans. Demi Morales is also causing every undersized volleyball player out there to send their videos to Bond. He is forwarding them to Kelly Sheffield. The Wisconsin effect? Sounds like Bond is doing what good coaches have been doing for ages, changing attitudes and recruiting good players. Certainly, Wisconsin participated in the attitude part, but the players were already there.

The Wisconsin effect is what I term the irrational rise in expectations, such as expecting the program to do the same thing as Wisconsin did, make it to the national finals the season immediately after a new coach is hired.

If Iowa had Carlini arriving, a healthy Dom Thompson, and the rest of the Badger cast, I can understand. Buth they don't. At least not right now.

I have no idea how Penn State was before Russ got there. He's been there since the 70s and I didn't start following PSU volleyball until 1991. Anyway, it doesn't matter. The college game has changed a lot since the 70s, so there is really no comparison. Can you remember the last time Wisconsin was as bad as Iowa has been for the past several years?

Can you remember the last time Wisconsin was as bad as Iowa has been for the past several years? Did a little research. 2008 (Dingman's first year at Iowa): Iowa (6-14 in B1G) split with Wisconsin (7-13 in B1G). 2009: Iowa (5-15 in B1G) swept Wisconsin (6-14 in B1G). That wasn't really that long ago. Regardless, and back to the primary topic of the thread, I am also excited about the possibilities of great improvement at Iowa. The players and fans deserve some success and I think that will happen sooner than later under Shymansky's leadership.

It's pretty clear though, that those two years were substandard for Wisconsin, which has usually managed to be middle-of-the-pack in the B1G. For Iowa, those kinds of seasons are very common.

I am curious where Iowa came up with the scholarship to offer Taylin Alm. By my count, they were full for 2014 and I had heard that was one factor that kept Goehner from following Shymansky to Iowa. It doesn't appear any of the three incoming Freshmen that were recruited by Dingman have decided against coming. I looked at roster on Iowa's site and a Freshman DS, Corinne Gajcak, is now no longer listed. Maybe she had schollie and left the team, which opened up a spot? Hmmm...

There was a period between when Lowe passed and Cook took over, where they weren't very good. They weren't as bad as Iowa is.

Bond is a fantastic coach, but I imagine recruiting will be hard. Why would anyone want to go to Iowa?
