Bond is a fantastic coach, but I imagine recruiting will be hard. Why would anyone want to go to Iowa? Saw Bond in Indy, he couldn't talk, he said he was on his way to Court 115 to see a stud kid named Moonlight Grahm, he had James Earl Jones following him around muttering something about not being Salinger, nor Selinger for that matter.

Bond is a fantastic coach, but I imagine recruiting will be hard. Why would anyone want to go to Iowa? Why would anyone want to go to Iowa State or Northern Iowa? If Bond can bring the best Iowa talent to Iowa City, he will have gone a long way toward raising Iowa up to mediocrity, which will be a considerable improvement.

You should know better than to make literary references in VT forums.

I can. Steve Lowe turned it around and John Cook built on it. actually lowe built it, Cook re-built/built on it after it tanked when Steve passed away. There was a period between when Lowe passed and Cook took over, where they weren't very good. They weren't as bad as Iowa is. Not really. They weren't very good in Cook's first couple of years, but there was only 1 year between Lowe's death and Cook taking over -- and they were 22-10 (14-5 in the conference) and made the NCAA round of 16 that year. Cook's first 4 years were 9-11, 11-9, 11-9 and 9-11 so, if anything, he was rebuilding on his own downturn -- not that those are horrible records, of course. 13-7, 19-1 and 17-3 his last 3 years.

Michelle Fugarino, DS/L from Muskego, WI, to Iowa in 2014. Bond has now added 4 new talented recruits (3 for 2014 and 1 for 2015) in a very short time since coming to Iowa. As was stated earlier, the guy can definitely recruit!

So....Bond managed to lure away an undersized player from a Horizon League team with a .500 record. Damn that guy's good. And the folks here acting like that's somehow impressive? C'mon, all that tells you is just how bad Iowa was.

According to Rich Kern: Shymansky has added 6'4" Taylin Alm (OH/RS) who had been committed to Pepperdine, Mikaela Gunderson (MB) who is tranferring from UW-Green Bay and now Michelle Fugarino, DS/L, all for 2014. These are in addition to the 3 2014 recruits that committed to Dingman: Jess Janota (MB) from OH, Kaylee Smith (S) from IA and Chenelle Walker (MB) from FL. Lots of new faces in Iowa City next year! Also added Reagan Davey (OH) from FL for 2015, who had been committed to Liberty.

If everyone stays that would be 6 seniors, 5 juniors, 3 sophomores, and 5 freshmen, if I've got the redshirts & transfer right. Are you hearing of more moves, hawkfan?

Not hearing of any more moves but could happen, I suppose. I have 19 as well. Think the incoming transfer will be a junior in 2014, though, so believe it would be 6 juniors and 2 sophomores. Will be interesting to see where people land by next fall in the lineup. At least he has choices to play around with.

My DD played in the ACC when Bond was at Georgia Tech and it was really apparent thet he could recruit and get talented kids. It certainly is arguable how they sometimes performed, but his teams were as talented as any team in the Conference. My guess is that he will be able to get high quality kids to go to Iowa City given some time.

iowa has never been bad. mediocre is the worst you can say about them. but when you're better than 2/3 of the other d1 schools, "bad" seems the wrong word.
