TV shows I didn't watch as a kid but I know I'll love them NOW because I already watched them all within the past 10-15 years on DVD.

The Lawrence Welk Show
Such an embarrassingly awesome show of old songs that your grandparents will love.
"Calcutta" is great, however. How can anyone hate "Calcutta"?
LOL!

I remember Streets of San Francisco from my childhood for a couple of things - one, since I lived in San Francisco, it was pretty exciting to see places you knew on TV. Also, it was the first time I ever heard of this guy: I'm trying to think of the first time I saw Arnold. I'm pretty sure it was a commercial for Terminator 2. Speaking of the Governator, he made an appearance on the ManningCast. He showed up feeding a donkey, didn't appear to be watching the game (to be fair, Peyton didn't appear to be listening to what Arnold was saying because he was pissed at Zach Wilson), and ghosted the Manning bros after the commercial. The latter was hilarious because Eli got him to say, "We'll be back," going into the break. Oh, also, Eli led off with the classic, "How much do you bench?" Arnold said his all-time max was 525, but he now works out with a "light" 310. He then asked Eli how much he benched, and Eli lied about maxing out at 320. It was incredible. This segment also features one of the most bizarre penalties I've ever seen, as a Jets defender coming off the bench knocked over a Chargers player while he was trying to get set for the snap.

I first saw Schwarzenegger in Pumping Iron, which was one of the first movies I saw as a child when my family stumbled into a free HBO feed with a new television. Arnold says, "I'll be back" in every movie of his that I've ever seen (except Pumping Iron). Granted I haven't seen all of his movies. There's this list: I'll Be BackBut I swear that he also says it in True Lies. Also, in my memory, I was shocked to hear him say it in either Conan or Hercules in New York (which wouldn't have been him saying, but a voice actor dubbing his lines), which predate The Terminator. Almost makes me want to go back and watch Conan just to find out. Almost.

Watching Bosch:Legacy on Freevee. Watched the original Bosch series on Prime and the new series holds up. Titus Welliver does a great job as Bosch.

Top TV shows I loved as a kid in the 1970s and that I'll still (probably) love today. (I should say, I HOPE I'll still love them today.) The Wild Wild West The Lucy Show (and Here's Lucy) The Fugitive The Lawrence Welk Show (...LOL!) Hogan's Heroes The Carol Burnett Show Mission: Impossible Hawaii Five-0 Mannix The Mary Tyler Moore Show The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour (...LOL!) M*A*S*H Kung Fu Rich Man, Poor Man (miniseries) Welcome Back, Kotter Three's Company The Love Boat (...LOL!) Fantasy Island (I actually loved the ironies in each episode's endings. One of the few TV shows with constant usage of the irony device.) Here's a Rotten Tomatoes List of top 70's shows... editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/20-tv-shows-that-defined-the-1970s/

Top TV shows which I loved as a kid (in the 1970s) but which I may not even like if I re-watched them now. Candid Camera The Beverly Hillbillies Gomer Pyle, USMC Gilligan's Island My Favorite Martian I Dream of Jeannie Get Smart Batman Green Acres Mayberry, RFD The Partridge Family The Wonderful World of Disney Laverne and Shirley One Day at a Time Donny & Marie (...LOL!) Charlie's Angels Eight is Enough The Bionic Woman The Six Million Dollar Man Alice Mork & Mindy Happy Days The reason to watch I dream of Jeannie was Barbara Eden. Or was that Elizabeth Montgomery? Or was it Dick York? Or Dick Sargent? Or sergeant York? Anyway, that leads me to another show some love and some hate… MST3k I really enjoyed some episodes, and some were not good. Favorites were 1)Parts: the clonus horror 2)Manos: the hands of fate. My sister and I loved those.

Yes, Norma Zimmer, The Champaign Lady, what a nice person. She spent a lot a time in my home town and married a local boy. She gave us great pride and sure had the locals fixated to the tube.

I have stayed at the Lawrence Welk Resort Village in beautiful Escondido, California. Lawrence Welk was not there on account of being dead. What the heck kind of flimsy excuse is that? Putin has been showing up for events regularly the past few weeks, and we all know he is dead. My brother and sister in law have stayed there and gone to a few shows. They are supposed to have some pretty good live shows in Escondido. Growing up, The Lawrence Welk Show was one of my parents favorite shows. We watched it fairly often when it came on each week. When I was in college (youngest of 3 kids, so last out of the house) I made a comment to my parents about how they loved that show and would always watch it. They gave me the weirdest look, and my dad said "I never cared for that show at all". I figured out then that my dad thought it was hokey and my classically trained musician mother thought it was dumbed down elevator music, but it came on one of the two channels we got without cable and it was "wholesome" so they let their kids watch it. I never realized how much pain they were in when it came on!

The reason to watch Bewitched was Elizabeth Montgomery. I liked Barney Miller, even as a kid not always getting all the jokes. I was forced to watch it in reruns when I got home from school and collapsed in a heap after practice, because it was the only thing on our one channel. I developed an appreciation for the humor that I never would have otherwise in jr high and high school. One bit I still remember went something like this: Woj was really slow at typing up reports. He interviewed an odd and I think homeless man they were trying to ID. Woj asked his age and he answered "57". Click, click. Then the man says "I was 35 years old in 1957". Woj looks disgusted, really slowly erases the form, starts counting on his fingers then looks at the man and says "wait, so you are 57?". "That's what I said". I learned to appreciate the acting and timing of slow bits like that.
