Cream puff schedule equals 1st round NCAA exits in the past 2 years. How painful! That sounds about right. ;D

The faded Glory of seasons past – a soft schedule to attempt to hide the rust and dust. Tough scheduling might have built a team – soft scheduling tells the team what the coach thinks of them. And they will live up to the coach’s expectations.

The college volleyball atmosphere at Long Beach State may take a passenger seat to Hawaii - most schools don't compare with an 8,000 seat place being filled for Women's Volleyball... Passenger seat - yes... However, we're STILL IN THE CAR... And in the front section of the car AT THAT... When it comes to volleyball on the MAINLAND and in CALIFORNIA - Long Beach State has been, and is a premier place to play... Most of the games, especially big ones, have a good collegiate atmosphere with a good fan base... Including a whole lot of young local volleyball players who come to the games... Now let's talk about IDAHO volleyball... Oh yeah, that's right... Now THAT's a program that WILL NEVER enjoy the distinction of a program like Hawaii - or, may I add - LONG BEACH STATE... Sorry, I had to respond... You offended me... GO BEACH!!! I really wanted to stay out of this. But, for one thing: Beachman was trying to stir up trouble by bringing up Hawaii on a Big West topic. That was pretty obvious. And, I don't know why you guys always have to slam Idaho. No one was even talking about Idaho. Just because IdahoBoy bugs you sometimes, that's no reason to slam the Idaho program. And, while we're talking about comparing places to play. I wonder what the players would say who have played at both Stan Sheriff and the Pyramid? I wonder how the fans differ, if there is a difference? I could guess, but I don't know for sure...

Check my post... I'm not arguing with that... I didn't make the schedule thank you very much... We have a new line up... Mazzarella, who looks the same as last year, Heather Hetzer - brand new, Alexis Crimes, BRAND NEW, Dyanne Lawlor- BRAND NEW... etc... Not to mention we don't have Erika Chidester or Natalie Uhart right now... And that most of the squad actually underwent surgery in the Spring... Call that an excuse if you want... But it's a legitimate excuse... They tried playing Erika one night against Northeastern, and she COULD NOT EVEN SWING - literally... So she's not playing right now... So yeah, we have a weak schedule... No doubt about that... But hey, the young players are getting some practice - and the other players are still healing... So i'm not complaining... Plus I get to watch them play more... ;D So yeah, it takes 5 games to beat a Northeastern, when you use a certain Erika Chidester who was pushing the ball over the net every time due to not being PHYSICALLY ABLE to hit the ball... And why Jillian kept on setting her, I HAVE NO IDEA... Thank you... But it took 4 Games to beat a ranked Utah, who took another Big West school, Irvine, to 5 games... Which coincidentally propelled us into the rankings for some strange reason... BTW, isn't San Diego any good? GO BEACH!!! Wasn't the LBSU schedule put together before the injuries of this past spring? Didn't Hawaii lose 7 seniors from last season's team? Both teams scheduled a lot of home matches, both teams are young, one of the teams didn't schedule primarily cupcakes for their non-conferences. What's the deal with LBSU having so many injuries the past few seasons? After a while it starts to sound like there is something happening that's more than just having a bit of bad luck.

Who wouldn't want to go to Hawaii for a plethera of reasons other than volleyball? Doy. Aside from Hawaii in general being a nicer place to visit than Long Beach (which of course, is a better place to visit than Stockton, granted) the Stan Sheriff is larger, the crowds more boisterous and (at least to Pacific fans) friendlier than the crowds at the Pyramid. OTOH, one can purchase beer at the Pyramid, which compensates for a lot. Cheap trip to LB-good bargain. Expensive trip to Hawaii-good bargain.

Barcelona, yeah, we have low level bleachers on THE ONE ENDZONE that is not completed...
THE REST of the Pyramid is OPEN... That includes general seating in section 111 and the 2 surrounding sections, as well as section 107 and its surrounding sections...
Why are you arguing about MY arena? I think i'd know a little more about my school, thank you very much...
As for this post :
GUESS WHAT? CHECK YOUR FACTS smart a$$! There are 5 Women's Volleyball NATIONAL TITLES hanging in the Pyramid...
NOTE: I DID NOT SAY NCAA NATIONAL TITLES - we have 3 of those... Women's NCAA volleyball was established in the 80's... We won 2 before that... IT STILL COUNTS...
And I can assure you that every school's media relations director will reference every NATIONAL TITLE in volleyball, not just NCAA, being that that it became an NCAA sport so recently...
GO BEACH!!!

Thank you Pacific Girl...
One of the relatively un-biased BIG WEST fans...
She hit it right on the head...
We have more of "college fans"... A little noisier... A little more heckling during big games... Hawaii has the nicer fans...
I've heard that before somewhere that Hawaii fans are mostly older...
There's a good amount of students and young local volleyball players that come to watch in the Pyramid...
GO BEACH!!!

OK, kiddies, let me elaborate just a bit. It would be ludicrous to try to defend Brian's "patsy" schedule this year.....yes we are at home, and against teams that are below what we usually schedule, either at home or on the road. Don't forget that scheduling requires "two to tango" and I know that there are teams that Brian has tried to get to "return favors" and come to Long Beach but he had little luck these past two years....that's really no big deal......THIS YEAR our schedule is easy, but unlike HAWAII, we don't schedule all of our matches at HOME EVERY YEAR, like Dave usually does, and everyone in the volleyball community knows that this has been one of his weaknesses over the years, which partially explains their lack of success OFF THE ISLAND! I agree that Long Beach's schedule is very easy THIS YEAR and that we are not playing on the road THIS YEAR....this is, however, not the usual practice of this program.....budgets played a small role in this in that Long Beach is hosting the FF and there are significant $$ costs associated with that that could fall back on the Athletic Department....nuff said....doesn't change the fact that for the first 5 weeks of the season the Wahine are eatin 'HOME COOKIN"!!!!!

Please elaborate on the "Hawaii's lack of success off of the Island" thought. Do you want me to post Hawaii's record off of the Islands againt non conference opponents over the last 10 years Beachman? I'll gladly do it. ;D

I don't know about you SDB: MY ARENA? Do you own the Pyramid? Check your facts? Weren't you diswoned by the athletic department? Okay so what were those other 2 non-NCAA volleybal championships? Specify! Judging from the early exits in the NCAAs, I would call the program a has-been!
