Yip...yip...yip....yap...yap...yap.... Dear Surfin D Can'tRememberwhathesaid, So basically, when it comes to sitting in the Pyramid, pretty much just buy a ticket and sit wherever you damn well feel like. Got it. When some upper-middle class snob whose daughter plays for CalJrs. asks me why I took her "reserved" seat in the low bleachers, I'll just say "Oh, this dork named Surfin' D Beach said this was open to the general public". LOL. Like I was saying earlier, open bench seating. Yuck. The Pyramid sucks. Cheers, SonofHasSeenVolleyballinBetterPlacesthanthePyramid

ReP U$C and UCLA, up until about two years ago, Long Beach couldn't get U$C to play us under any conditions,,,,,nearly ditto for UCLA. Not sure about the last couple of years though. As far as the Pyramid goes, it is a phenomenal venue and everyone who plays there says so! There is no comparison between it and the facilities that any of the Big West schools play in.....sorry UCSB and UOP but the truth hurts don't it! I don't know, BM. Provide me with some truth and I'll tell you how it feels.

ok as for the seating situation and who wont play who, i have no clue. what i do know is that the pyramid is one of the worst places i have played in. could they have possibly found a worse place to put the lights? did it ever occur to the person who designed it that people would be playing volleyball on that court. hey lights put the lights right in the corners so when they set the ball outside you can see anything. and lets not just put 2 or 3 lights there but how about 10 of them. so maybe its not the worst place i have played cause the floor is nice but it does have the worst lights.

SDB – I find the seating at the Pyramid to suck. It removes visiting team fans from being close to their team. Seating should allow the same privileges for visitors as they do for the season ticket holders and locals. The only seating worst is at Stanford, where in a tournament when Stanford is not playing the seasons seats are still reserved. Forcing many of the fans to sit near the band (this is enough punishment to make me wish for an Iraqi prison) or sit at the ends of the court and use binoculars.

Whats the matter, your fans can't come in at the last minute, drunk, causing all kinds of havoc? Kind of like they do at the TDome!

BEACHMAN per your “WHINEY, WHINEY, WHINEY! Whats the matter, your fans can't come in at the last minute, drunk, causing all kinds of havoc? Kind of like they do at the TDome!”<br>You must be thinking that fresh air (versus the oil smell drifting in from Signal Hill) is alcohol. I would require you to listen to the $tanford for 2 hours, but that will be impossible because the Beachless will never get to play a team as good as $tanford. Oh – slight matter of spelling above “Whats” ?? You must be a Long Beach State graduate. ;D ;D ;D

I'll take that - no argument from me... There's no doubt that i'm "true to my school"... LOL... ;D As for Barcelona... WHAT FACTS? Are you clinically INSANE? OPEN is a BROAD TERM... in this context, it meant THE SEATING WAS AVAILIBLE to SIT IN... During Men's Volleyball ,we only have one side of the pyramid OPEN TO SEATING... During Women's matches, ALL SECTIONS ARE OPEN FOR SEATING... And yes, the low bleachers can be used by the general public... usually it's used by guests who pay no mind to the ticket... But students can sit there if they wanted... Members of the community and some Cal Juniors players sit there, as well as special guests... No matter how you twist it, it's OPEN FOR SEATING... If you want to talk about WHO sits in the seats... WHO CARES? General admission is in section 111, 107 and surrounding sections, etc... Why would you care if you sat on low level bleachers anyway? That side of the Pyramid is not FINISHED - big deal... Wouldn't you rather sit in the actual finished bleachers? I think there's miscommunication going on, because we're definitely not looking at the same situation... You are a very strange man... Most people would see this as a simple subject, but apparently, you don't see it that way... And once again, the arena belongs to Long Beach State students (I AM ONE, THEREFORE IT'S MY PEERS' and MINE), and university community... You are one strange man... GO BEACH!!! Unfinished seats at the Ptramid because no one wants to donate money anymore! Strange man? Don't know but what I hear from your LBS fans is that you are the strangest of them all!!

Wow, you guys are absolutely amazing... First of all, to Barcelona... There's no point arguing when all you can do is TWIST my statements when you realize that it's not even a valid topic to argue about... Especially after I explained the context... To Tiruray - who the hell are you? Do you know me? NO... Does ANYONE on this board know me? NO... Only one person, and his name is Robert Motley... A guy with the screenname that starts with GM also knows me, but he rarely if ever posts... Nevertheless, MOST Of you people, INCLUDING the BEACH FANS, are 50+ year old guys... I AM A CURRENT STUDENT... We're in 2 different worlds... So for you to even call things like "dork," or what our other fans think, is RIDICULOUS, because most of them don't even know me... And trust me, although I may WRITE like a studious bookworm (I am a public relations major), I definitely do not look like I write... Especially personality wise... You'd be shocked what kind of life I live... So don't read too much from my writing... With that said, you guys are WAYYY sad to have taken this post as far as it went... I sense the inferiority complexes - i'm definitely not blind... Long Beach State is STILL a national power - enough said... GO BEACH!!!

Doesn't work anymore UCSBVBall... ;D Read the article - click on the link... From the Press Telegram __________________________________ A growing reputation At Cal State Long Beach, numbers tell a story. The word is getting around to the right places, that Cal State Long Beach is among the better universities for undergraduate study. Just look at the numbers. More than 50,000 students applied this year for admission, 33,000 of them at the freshman level. That's an increase of 100 percent compared to just five years ago, and several times as many as the campus could accommodate. The same is true of the President's Scholars program, initiated nine years ago by President Robert Maxson. The program offers financial aid and other benefits to top-ranked high school graduates. Six hundred applied this year for only 68 openings. Last week it became clear that not just students were getting the word. In the annual ranking by U.S. News & World Report, Cal State Long Beach was third best in the western region among public universities offering master's programs and a full range of undergraduate degrees. It also for the first time ranked among the first tier, or top 25 percent of both public and private master's universities in the region. What that means, in the U.S. News ranking especially, is that Cal State Long Beach is rising in the esteem of the nation's academic leaders, since peer review is a key part of that survey. What that also means is that the university will be in even greater demand among student applicants. This will help as well with fund-raising, which already is among Cal State Long Beach's strong suits. The campus is consistently at or near the top in fund-raising in the state university system. On average, the university's endowment grows by a million dollars every 11 days. The money is needed for good causes, not the least of which is the President's Scholars. This program attracts students who could choose from among the very best, but also the most expensive, of the nation's universities. At Cal State Long Beach, they get a first-rate undergraduate education, then, without having accumulated heavy debts, they can go on for advanced degrees to such places as Harvard, Stanford or Yale. Many do. Many more could, if there were more millions in the university's endowment fund. The President's Scholars program is financed entirely by private contributions. That's where the need is. The best students are hearing about the campus; so are the best faculty, the nation's academic leaders, and the philanthropists. Still, every year brings growing opportunities to invest in the quality of education at Cal State Long Beach. So spread the word. __________________________________________ And this link: karl.papubs.csulb.edu/news-events/story.cfm?hackid=288GO BEACH!!!

SDB, why get sucked in by all these LB haters. They are all giddy because the team has been down the last couple of years after having their a$$ handed to them for the past decade and a half. No other team or their fans are insulted more.

Surfin D Beach People have views different than you – while many of the discussions get involved they are with respect -- For knowledge of Long Beach State, Beachman and Robert M. have always provided facts – (mixed of course with basis). I will continue attempting to illuminate the dimness of their minds that the Gauchos are a better team, and that Brian is the best act since vaudeville died. When it comes to the Pyramid – it was not set up for volleyball – for volleyball I want to be close to the players, and shout my encouragement and taut Brian. Relax and be glad that you will get to see a few good teams this year at the Pyra-a-pile. (shame Long Beach State is not one of them) ;D ;D

UCSB would look sweet if they had Kanoe from Hawaii setting.. Nice compliment to Kanoe! I think any team would look sweet with her setting. She's doing a great job for Hawaii! (You'll notice I'm steering clear of all those argumentative posts; just not into it today. For what it's worth, I do think Long Beach is still a national power, but has obviously not been as strong in the last several years. So what? Every school will have down years. It's also undisputed that LB is playing a mostly home schedule this year and that the schedule is not packed with NCAA tournament-type teams. Again, so what? I don't think LB is realistically thinking they're going to contend for the title this year, are they? Peace, everyone! )

Yeah, I don't like Gimmarillo but the man got results for years. Does he need to adapt to get back to the Final Four? Of course. Does he need to be ashamed of it. No. If Brian didn't think his team was ready for a tough schedule than so be it. It's his program and the skies haven't been particularly rosy that last few years with defections, injuries and missed opportunities. He has to just to get his team on track and then war through the Big West Schedule. Unless he's planning to make an NC run this year, it's probably better to prepare his kids for the matches that count rather than put them through a grind that will wear down their chances in the Big West.
That's just how I'm reading. I love SOS and playing great teams all around the nation but I can see the wisdom in not doing it every year. One season UH played what felt like half the Big Ten and a fourth of the Big 12. It worked out and I enjoyed every moment on my TV but it's doesn't always work. A number of years ago, our baseball team played teams like CS-Fullerton, UCLA and USC and beat them. Then the WAC comes in and we get steamrolled by teams that aren't even half as good as the teams we played. You could argue that they weren't good enough to pull it off but that's sort of my point.
