Great comeback for the Australians to win in two. They were down 17-13 and just blocked the bigger Pole off the court. Three straight blocks to get back in it, then two straight to end the match, with a couple in between. They looked like 2008 Phil Dalhausser out there.
Italians up next.

I know....It looks as though Walsh & Ross are all washed up!! Better put them on life support now!! You say that, and maybe they bounce back, but this four tournament stretch probably represents the worst run of Kerri's career (absent the times when she was not fully back from pregnancy). This is a problem for those two. Add in the near loss to Fendi/Sweat at the AVP and they have been playing poorly for over a month. This from the same person who said Phil and Rosie needed to admit they had a problem right before they got 3 golds and a silver in the next 4 events.

A fair point, however the difference is that Rosie's career has been marked with ups and downs akin to what he and Phil suffered over the first year and a third of their partnership. Also just because I happened to be wrong about that (and those casting stones should review what they said about Nicolai/Lupo after events 1 and 2) doesnt mean I am not right about this. Do you know when the last time Kerri had three finishes that low in such a short span? I'll give you a hint, it has never happened before. Phil and Sean were in a slump but it was precedented. Kerry's three ninths in four events simply isnt. She and April have still won half the events they entered and could easily come back and get the last grand slam and all the AVPs, but as of now, this season is a little bit of a disappointment from them.

You say the Aussies only beat Phil/Sean because Phil/Sean lacked focus. But the Aussies have beaten Herrera/Gavira and now the Poles along with another decent team or two in this tourney proving exactly my point of strong parity on this tour!

Hard to continue to dispute you. The Poles flaked out a little (from 17-13 in their favor they missed 3-4 straight float serves) but beating 1 and 2 like that, with a solid Spanish team in between, thats a great tournament for Australia. I hope they win!

Aw. The women's tournament ended today. That's kinda disappointing. I like it when all the finals (gold and bronze for both genders) are on the same day.
Brazilian medal sweep; the match I speculated about ended up happening, for gold. Larissa/Talita over Juliana/Maria in two 2-point sets. Agatha/Seixas over Italy in two 3-point sets for bronze. That's obviously the strongest result for the Brazilians in what's been a pretty lacklustre season for them, though more so for the men than the women.
Cinderella Australians in the semis tomorrow against Nicolai/Lupo. Smedins/Samoilovs against Alison/Bruno on the other side. I gotta like Alison/Bruno here.

Kerri/April ALMOST, at Long Beach, leave on Friday after a 3rd game at 15-15, but go on to win. I'd say parity as there just, especially at FIVB level, isn't a game you can roll through...Will be interesting to see the AVP events coming up, but they are nowhere near the FIVB level of play...PS. Why don't more international players compete on the AVP?

Bound to get one right one of these days Between that gold and the 1-2-3 sweep on the women's side, the Brazilians are up to second in the seasonal medal standings. They probably won't surpass the Americans for first, but just two or three weeks ago they were sixth. So they've made up quite a bit of ground.
