Someone has to replace Bailey Webster (who was only a front row player) at OH. While most have penciled in Tiffany Baker as a starting OH for 2014, we have yet to see her in a (non-Spring) match as she spent all of 2013 and much of 2014 rehabbing. At Opposite, there are a lot of options if Chiaka is moved to the middle; so, a starting sport could be up for grabs. I think Paulina walks in and immediately competes for a starting pin-hitter spot. With the 6-2 offense most likely being what we'll see to open the season, that increases Prieto's chances of seeing immediate floor time. After Eckerman, we just don't have returning pin-hitters with the size and skills Elliott prefers. If 5'11 Pilar Victoria and 5'9 Amy Neal found opportunities to hit in last season's 6-2 offense, Paulina and Tiffany should have no issues in 2014 (assuming no health concerns). Granted, Pilar and Neal played all 6-rotations during that time. From a pure power and strength perspective, Paulina packs more punch than Baker, Dalton, Pilar, and Neal. I expect her to win a starting spot. But who is going to PASS? Why would you think Texas is concerned with passing?

But who is going to PASS? This is what I think is gonna happen. They'll start in a 6-2 with Bell and McCage on the right, Hattis and Ogbogu in the middle, and Eckerman and Paulina on the left. They'll realize they don't have the ball control for it and scrap it by conference play. They'll then switch to a 5-1 with Dalton setting, McCage on the right, Bell and Ogbogu in the middle and Eckerman and Paulina both 6-rotation outsides. Both of those lineups use the same three passers. If they didn't have the ball control in the 6-2, why would they have it in the 5-1?

Eckerman looked technically better at serve recieve in the spring game and I'm hoping Paulina can be serviceable as both will have 1-2 rotations with 2 other defensive specialists back there with them (probably McCoy at libero and Brooks as DS for McCage) Eckerman and Paulina as left side primary passers: that will cause enough salivating among opposing servers to solve the Southwest drought problem for years to come.

That probably sounded pretty cute to you as you typed it. Posted? Not.

Maybe use Dalton as a passer in the front row instead of putting Bell on the right like another poster said!

Using your opposite to pass can get wonky in rotation 2. If Prieto can pass decently well, I don't think they'll need Dalton's ball control.

Player to be named later? Seriously think that is real? Russ has said publically that if your not happy here at Penn State then you must leave not should but must. He does not want players who do not want to be there. Would any coach want such a situation? I doubt it. Yeah, at the end of the day, if you're not happy at a school for whatever reason it may be, you should leave. It's not worth it. You already have a lot on your plate as a collegiate athlete, and depression and sadness should not be one of those things. depression and sadness?

Jerritt is not the best coach to go to for depression and sadness. I wish Paulina success and happiness in whatever she pursues.

I'm not too worried about how Dalton will pass if they need her, as Texas won a NC with their opposite as their main passer. However, I really liked what I saw in the spring from Dalton setting, so I'm hoping we won't need her ball control and we can run a 5-1 with her

As I feared this is getting so messy.
As much as some are speaking logically it gets dragged under so quickly.
Yuk.

You don't know Jerrit or anything about Texas Volleyball. What is your problem? What is YOUR problem Dororthy? What makes you think you can just call somebody stupid on this website and get away with it? Because your behind a screen? Because we don't know who you are? Does that make you feel like you have some sort of power now, and that you should use it to hurt other people on a site where they discuss something they love? Most of what you've done on this thread is pick on people. And now you have the nerve to call someone stupid. I don't know who you think you are dorothymantooth, but you need to realize people come on this website to talk about something they are passionate about, not to be made fun of, not to be told their ideas are stupid. If you have nothing meaningful to contribute to the discussion, please leave. All further comments you make will be ignored.
