An earlier post said RR didn't like errors and she made them. There isn't a coach in the land who likes errors but based on some of the matches I watched the last couple of seasons there are players who are allowed to make errors and stay on the court and those who aren't. Paulina apparently fell into the latter category. I agree, there were some players who made mistakes on the court but were allowed to stay. I guess RR thought the points those players scored made up for the errors. But he never really put Paulina on the court long enough for her to make up for the errors.

Frankly, I was shocked when she chose PSU! I never thought that it was a good decision or the right place for her! and I think i mentioned it here and got plenty of $#!@ for it. Having said that, I hope Texas turns out to be a better choice for her. I would have considered Miami or Florida as a better option as well but I get that she wants a big change. Her back row play is definitely the area in question. How much that has improved or will improve, is yet to be determined. Yeah, I really hope she finds what she wants at Texas.

This is what I think is gonna happen. They'll start in a 6-2 with Bell and McCage on the right, Hattis and Ogbogu in the middle, and Eckerman and Paulina on the left. They'll realize they don't have the ball control for it and scrap it by conference play. They'll then switch to a 5-1 with Dalton setting, McCage on the right, Bell and Ogbogu in the middle and Eckerman and Paulina both 6-rotation outsides. Eckerman looked technically better at serve recieve in the spring game and I'm hoping Paulina can be serviceable as both will have 1-2 rotations with 2 other defensive specialists back there with them (probably McCoy at libero and Brooks as DS for McCage) Interesting. Why do you think that if they start with the 6-2, by time conference play comes around they will scrap it? If anything that is when they should work on the 6-2, if that is what is going to maximize their points (I don't think so, but I digress). The big 12 is not a power conference, Texas doesn't have to worry about 85% of their matches, regardless of which system they run. Heck even their preseason this year isn't going to leave them scrambling with the only matches they could lose is to Nebraska and Florida, and given that both of those matches are away matches for Texas in the preseason, they stand a good chance of losing them even in a 5-1. I guess my point is that if Elliot and staff want to go with a 6-2, they should go with a 6-2 and not change it come conference play. Because it's what theyve done the past 2 years

Players transfer everyday, not sure why when this happens there has to be something nefarious involved. Right? I know I'm guilty of involving myself in this discussion, but in context it's not a big deal.

But who is going to PASS? Good question because if they can't pass well their entire offense is just going to be a bunch of out-of-system moon ball sets to the outsides. Oh..never mind.

Because it's what theyve done the past 2 years I also think Jerritt may attempt to run a modified 6-2 when conference season begins, similar to the one Engle ran in 2009 but with Dalton at S/Opp. She would set from the back row and pass/hit and be the secondary setter while in the front row. But again, it really depends on how healthy Nicole is and if she can handle all the responsibility. They tried to run it during her freshman year, but she was too inconsistent (but her hip injuries may have contributed to it). At least in this system, she would help stabilize the serve-receive passing for 3 rotations. In this line-up I would have: S/Opp-Dalton S- Collins MB - Bell MB - Chiaka Opp - McCage OH - Eckerman OH - Prieto/Baker L - McCoy DS - Brooks ( for Prieto/Baker)

Anyone who has watched Prieto for an extended period of time knows she is consistently inconsistent. I doubt she will find consistent playing time at Texas as I don't see her playing better or more consistently than those who are already playing OH and any new recruits. She will be warmer and a bit closer to home in Texas. I wish her well and a reality check.

He saw her in all sorts of situations in the practice gym for hundreds of hours of play. He used that evaluation in comparison with his evaluations of other players in the same setting to decide how much time to give her in matches.

I admit, it is really unrealistic to just waltz into an already well-equipped Texas and expect a starter spot on the team. But I'm sure Paulina knows this, and will work to improve her game. I am really curious to see whether or not she'll make the starting lineup in Texas's first games of the season.

If she was not happy at Penn State then she should leave for whatever reason be it playing time, homesick or academic. She was not happy.
Good luck Paulina. be well . Be happy.

Player to be named later? Seriously think that is real? Russ has said publically that if your not happy here at Penn State then you must leave not should but must. He does not want players who do not want to be there. Would any coach want such a situation? I doubt it.

Russ Rose didn't really see it with her (obviously he saw something in her at one point since he did recruit her). That's why I think she's transferred to Texas. Maybe Jared Elliot will see something special in her that Rose didn't and she'll get time to play and really display her skills and talent. Maybe she'll leave RR feeling insanely regretful. But I've heard from other people who's commented on this post that she's inconsistent and prone to errors.

Yeah, at the end of the day, if you're not happy at a school for whatever reason it may be, you should leave. It's not worth it. You already have a lot on your plate as a collegiate athlete, and depression and sadness should not be one of those things.

Mexican food =/ Puerto Rican food Speaking as a hillbilly from Palo Alto, and also introducing the fact that we are culinarily challenged out here in Silicon Valley, I clearly did not know better. The food did look good though ... I'm ready for a meal at Fiesta Del Mar; maybe the Enchiladas Suizas with black beans.
