Sure. I don't take one underwhelming tournament to be the be-all, end-all assessment of a player. I look forward to seeing her play again.

Hochevar is in the dreaded "stepping stone" phase - player on the downside of their career who still has enough points and/or pull with promoters/sponsors to make them an attractive short-term partner for up and coming players to piggyback in order to gain experience and points. Branagh is also entering that category. That probably sounds harsh, but it's just part of the pro beach food chain.

Branagh looked a "bit" better than that, for the small amount of coverage I've seen lately...IMHO...She WAS arguably #4 player in the USA in the prime days (pre '10)...

"Stepping stone," yes, that's the metaphor I was seeking

Lucena-Doherty USA [10] Schalk-Saxton CAN [19] 1-2 (21-14, 17-21, 16-18) Sorry Canuckians, no offense but I'm going to say that's a bad loss for Ryan/Nick....

Then it's a good win for Chaim and Ben!

Then it's a good win for Chaim and Ben! Haha, yes, true! Looks like U.S. men on collision course sandwiched in same side of bracket. Hyden/Bourne vs. Gibb/Patterson, I'm too lazy to look up their head-to-head records this year...?? Only one Brazo team left with all the mix up. I'm sure someone mentioned but why no Emanuel this tourney, injury?

That lower bracket is soft as can be now. Things really broke right for the Latvians, now that they beat the top-seeded Poles. Two years ago Tri was failing to qualify for non-AVP domestic tours. Now he is part of a top 6 seeded team in the world. Thats amazing

Aw, I hate it when the finals are on different days. How does Larissa rate, though? Pretty quick trip to get back to the top of the podium. Lots of Larissa/Talita vs Juliana/Maria matches in our future, methinks, especially without Walsh/Ross in the event.

Would've liked to have seen today's men's finals, but had some serious computer troubles (will probably have to finally replace this old hunk of junk). I'd been anticipating the Pedro/Alvaro tandem in the Brazilian game of musical chairs going on lately, and favourable knockout draw or not, it's tough to have a better first tourney together.

They had to go through 1, 4, and 5 seeds. That seems fairly difficult (I know Sean/Phil were seeded 2 because its Poland, but they are the 1 seed)
