Regardless of what happened, the name calling, judging and disrespect.i want to point out how funny it is seeing people say that this was a great year of Wisconsin volleyball. I watched all of the state tournament and some regular season games and I can't hold my tongue any more. This was by far the worst season of Wisconsin volleyball I have seen in awhile. I am embarrassed to say I once played volleyball in Wisconsin. When people comment saying that there are multiple players that can go play d1 or d2 is ridiculous. If a player want to go to Quincy or mckendree and get their ass kicked every game then so be it. But let's call a spade a spade. let's not kid ourselves and hold our state to a better standard. No team deserved the state title and a Libero as the poy is absurd. But nonetheless this was the best jv state tournament that I've ever seen. Who are you? Who did you play for? Where are you playing in college?
There were top 10 teams in the 18s, 17s, 16s, and 15s from Wisconsin at Junior Nationals this past club season. So either the entire country is awful and you should be embarrassed that volleyball is played in the USA (despite having a men's team that won the World League) or you are the one who is a joke.
Hint: It's the latter.

While the level of play across the board may not be the best it has ever been, the elite players are elite. As I stated a billion times, the state field was not strong. So just watching those 8 teams does not showcase WI Boys VB.

I caught the message the first time but it is unlikely to double up so close together. I will stay with my same prediction for the following two years.

You may have your rather "harsh" opinion but it turned out to be a great tournament. I want to know why you wasted so much time and money watching a "JV" tournament if you thought the level of play was so bad. Thank you for your contribution to the WIAA.

Can we get back to this COY discussion. No offense to Franklin's coach, as he did not vote for himself to receive the award, but ARE YOU SERIOUS people? Sully, White, Maass, Owen, Gulak, Rushmer, Belling, Reid ... please tell me why any of those would not get it if you were to compare head to head with the winner. There is no reasonable explanation here except complete bias.
Clearly I am not the only one who feels this way as others have been mocking the selection and predicting ridiculously for the next two to three seasons.

I don't know much, but last I checked, Stanford, Ball State, and Lewis have 4 commits from the First and Second All State teams. Also, Wessel is one of the best Liberos in the country. No one deserves POY more.

And add Scheoeder going to IPFW to the mix. That's 5, and a couple more still to sign.

You must feel a lot better getting that off your chest. I am not going to argue your points about high school season because I have not been part of it or watched very much of it for several years so I don't really know enough to evaluate, however I feel the level of Wisconsin volleyball as a whole has never been stronger. The state is consistently sending kids to high level college programs every year. Last year UCI and Loyola. This year one to Stanford and I know of another MPSF team reciting another player and the year after Static will go somewhere big and there could be more. Also, at JO's last year Wisconsin had a team in the top 10 from the 15s through 18s division. In all my years in club volleyball I never remember a year where we have been that good. Also the last four college national championship teams all had at least one Wisconsin volleyball player on it as well. I am not sure why you would be so embarrassed about a top 10 finish at nationals.

I think Shorewood will have a much improved team and their coach will win COY next season.

I am not sure about the mocking part like I said I am not to update with high school volleyball but I do not think Tom Gulak has won the award and I do not know anyone more deserving in Wisconsin volleyball. Truly an incredible ambassador of the game.

I do not care that you think this year was a poor year of volleyball. I think it was great. The state was filled with several great teams instead of just one dominant team and the two teams in the state championship weren't probably the ones most of us had in mind would be playing in it. But to rip on kids for going down to a school like McKendree or Quincy, by the way, no one is going to Quincy that I know of, that's not right. These players have worked their butts off for years in order to fulfill a life long dream of playing college volleyball. For you to come in and say they are wasting their time is probably quite discouraging to them. If everybody had the mindset that college volleyball was a waste of time unless they played in the MPSF, Loyola, Penn State, etc. then this sport would never grow. Maybe your a parent, coach, or current player that is mad your team didn't win it all, but keep your ID to yourself because if some of us saw you in person it wouldn't be too pleasant.

I'll admit my comment was a little heated. But my main point is that we need to hold our state to a higher standard. I remember times when this state produced great talents and had incredibly competitive and skilled teams. I want this sport to grow but growing through mediocrity is not the way to go. If we keep telling "okay" players that they're elite growth of our players diminishes. Let's stop sugar coating and be real.

How did your club teams do? Where did you play in college? You keep talking about the past. Let's talk about it. Why were you so great compared to these mediocre teams? Completely pathetic.
