This is a Cal Poly thread, right? Let's hear more feedback about how the team is actually playing this year, from Poly fans who are there. And any insight as to why they are playing below the level of the excellent talent they have. Maybe they just need another year to mature and gel. Maybe it is because they lost Mathiesen at the beginning of the season...? (Jake, maybe you can start a separate Mathiesen thread, so the subject of her not playing doesn't take over the whole Poly thread every week? I think it's pretty unusual for any hitter who has missed most of the season to work their way back into the starting lineup, even once they are healthy and practicing with the team, so it's likely not going to happen this season.)
Tomorrow is NLI early signing day for 2015 volleyball players. There is at least one great recruit coming to Poly in January... Adlee Van Winden, a hard hitting OH from Five Starz, one of the best teams in that age group in the country. She is a longtime beach volleyball partner of Taylor Nelson, so setter/hitter chemistry should be very good, and she will help the sand team. Nelson and Van Winden's moms played volleyball together at Poly. I don't know the other recruits.
Most of this year's freshman are also experienced beach volleyball players, so Poly's sand team has a lot of potential, come Springtime.

kvball,
Appreciate your input,...and, the info on an early signing recruit,...Ms. Adlee Van Winden. (Coming in January 2015,...same as Taylor Nelson one year ago.)
I have limited insight into the performance of individual players. Only watched over the internet,...so, pretty hard to get a "hoofbeat" into the team's progress.
Hoping to see Mathiesen playing again this season because she could be part of CAL POLY's future for the next three years.
GoPOLY!!!

NO. Read your own thread and quit flogging this dead horse.
RIGHT!
Suggestion,...why don't you STOP opening my posts.
GoPOLY!!!
Sorry to be rude, Jake. Subtlety seems to be lost on you. People generally come to a Cal Poly thread for updates on the team. You don't seem to actually have much knowledge of or interest in the team except for one player who hasn't played for a couple of months. No one else so far has shared your level of interest in that topic. So, "may I humbly ask that you give that obsession a rest, and keep us posted on how the team is actually doing?" (That's the much nicer, and more subtle, translation for "quit flogging this dead horse".) Hopefully, Mathiesen will come back healthy and have a stellar season next year. And if she shows up healthy in a match before the end of this season, I'm sure you will let us know, and we will all cheer for her. GoPOLY!

Love that Jake from State Farm commercial. Both actors are pitch perfect.

Or Colonel Markinson... Are you Markinson? You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has athletes. And those athletes have to be guarded by jake and his words. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Roy HObbs? Jake has a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Cal Poly and you curse the Big West. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Cal Poly's horrible season, while tragic, probably saved us from more messages from Jake. And Jake's existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, gives us something to read...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you need Jake's messages. You need Cal Poly! We use words like Dig, Set, Hit...Jake use's these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. jake doesn't have neither the time nor the inclination to explain Cal Poly to people who rises and sleeps under the scrutiny of the very athletes he protects. Jake would just rather we said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a Cal Poly flag and cheer. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!
