Great win tonight for the Beach! Miley was suited up and participated in pre game warm ups. Does anyone know when she will return to the court?

Is Miley really that great?? She played very little last year on a Long Beach team that wasn't very good. I don't remember much from her in her limited time last year.

Miley still has a way to go, had timing issues early in the season. However, she was playing extremely well the 4-5 games before her injury, hitting over 0.300. She can hit over blocks with her vertical jump and she adds some help on the block to an already good LB Block. LB didn't adjust well without her against Oregon State after she got injured. If she can get integrated back quickly, LB could be very good, especially with Murray who keeps getting better.

I agree that we have yet to see Long Beach healthy and fully in synch. If they can get everyone back to 100 percent, they will be even tougher. I am convinced that a healthy Miley makes them a noticeably better team.

Beach now 15-4. Still not @ 100% either.
Janelle Hudson all-around game has been great. Hitting 0.380 in conference, 0.360 overall, with 2.6 digs/set. and with the chemistry between her/Okpala getting better each game as Okpala gets to 100%
this team still has a higher ceiling to reach

I don't see LBSU losing any of the remaining games. I think they can go undefeated in the conference.

Long Beach is starting to hit on all cylinders but its tough to win in Hawaii and at CSUN. I still believe that there will be a two way or three way tie at the top when all is said and done. Hopefully I am wrong and LBSU is up there alone because that is the only way I feel confident that they will get in the NCAAs. Hate to leave it in the selection committees hands with ties at the top.

Both teams have way too much talent to be swept. pretty much any result between LB/Haw/North wouldn't be a surprise - so no guarantees I think what LB has going for it is that their play has consistently gotten better as the season has gone on, they have IMO the best setter in the conference who is still learning and is experienced/confident at the same time, plus they could still get Miley back.

Tonight's match could be trouble as LBSU easily handled UCSB and Cal Poly will be in need of a split after losing to CSUN. If the ladies from the Beach come out and play at a high level and do not sink to the level of their competition this will show that they are maturing as a team.
The one thing I will be looking at is the stats from the left side. The Beach needs more consistency out of Reid or have Sophie improve to the point that she can be a effective L1. When the passing goes south you need at least one left that can carry the team and put some balls down.
Hopefully Jake will be at the match and can give us a run down.

Davis @ Long Beach tonight and should be a very good match, this now becomes a pivotal Big West match. If Davis can somehow win, they & Hawaii will be 1 loss behind Long Beach, and the Big West title and auto-berth will be open to a lot of teams with 3 or less losses (North, LB, Haw, Davis, Irvine, & Santa Barbara - it's wide open), plus Davis has a favorable 2nd half home schedule.
If LB wins, well, hard to see anyone but LB or Hawaii with a chance, and LB will be a distinct favorite going into the 2nd half. It'll be a big program win for LB to go 8-0 at this stage, and still without Miley.
Katie Squires of Davis has seemingly had a light switch go off in Big West play, hitting 0.250 whereas she was hitting poorly in nonconference, and Davis feeds her the ball a LOT, probably a big reason for Davis improved play. Chism Okpala is getting progressively more dominant in conference, hitting over 0.400 after being less than 100% most of non-conference.
LB is going to need Mackie to return to form after a lot of hitting errors the last couple of games - when both Mackie & Okpala are getting good looks, LB is extremely tough putting a lot of pressure on an opponents left side offensively and defensively with their block. Pretty much if LB can handle Davis serve, they will be in good shape, otherwise a dog fight.

I went to last night's match against UC Riverside at the Pyramid. The Beach seemed to play down, at times, to their greatly over matched competition and Hudson appeared to play tentatively. Anyway, I hope the Beach comes out on all cylinders tonight against Davis. When the Beach is in system, they are clearly the best team in the Big West.

Anyway, I hope the Beach comes out on all cylinders tonight against Davis. When the Beach is in system, they are clearly the best team in the Big West. can't question BG's tactics with his pedigree, but still it seems frustrating that against an opponent LB had ZERO chance of losing to, that Brinke didn't get in to play and get in reps for at least a set or two, or get Watanabe in for some rotations - why not take the opportunity to have them in there for some real game time?, and after Hudson's injury would have been interesting to give Cabrajac the opportunity as the setter for one set just to give her some reps as Hudson's back-up. guess 'messing' with the team's timing is not something he likes to do .......hard to believe the value against an opponent like Riverside where the natural tendency is to go thru the motions anyway.
