I thought Mary did OK with what she was given most of the night. However, her back-to-back attack attempts at about 20 all in the 4th were horrible decisions. I was most disappointed in the Rolfzen's serve receive. It was quite a contrast to Robo from last season. Robo was so good defensively I lost track of how me times she serve received and then passed nails only to get set and terminate with a thunderous back row attack. Speaking of back row attacks-----I don't recall seeing MP set even ONE backrow attack tonight.

After those three attacks by Annika where she ended up hitting .000 it looked like Mary didn't even look to Annika.

In Cook's press conference he seemed to imply Kadie may not have her spot nailed down. Out of all the hitters returning I didn't expect her to perform like this.

Alright, venting over. I'll be ready to cheer for them on Sunday regardless. Knowing the pendulum of athletic performance, they'll probably play out of their minds and beat Stanford. I honestly believe that there is a good chance that could happen. My guess is that Cook will do some significant adjusting.

Just oversimplified thoughts of the past: A big reason I thought Mary got the setter position last year over Kelly was because Kelsey was so used to her setting. And I just assumed the same would be with the Rolfzens and Kelly since they have all played so long together, and the Rolfzens would be expected to provide a bulk of the scoring.

Nice win for FSU, on the road too. Nebraska should get well against Stanford (at least play better). Very clever scheduling. Stanford never plays well in the morning PDT!

Why was Keil not suited up tonight?

The twins are the heart and soul of the Huskers this year. We need to keep them on the court period. IMHO, if the twins are the heart and soul of this team,,,,,Lord help the Huskers. While it looks like I misspoke, I want to rethink this entire team. Something needs to change but give FSU credit for playing well.

Why was Keil not suited up tonight? Because she didn't earn a starting spot?

Has no clue Did you WATCH the match or listen ?? I watched and far to many sets were moonbeamed so high the ball came down with ice on it. You think those moonbeams which took a half hour to come down stressed the FSU defense ?? MP also had some very nice quicks to the middles. For the most part when MP received the ball on a decent pass she okay. Still, even on to many of those she moonbeamed the set into the stratosphere. Thank you. I'm not even saying Mary is bad. She's not. She's a very good setter, but IMO, she needs a lot of work if she wants to succeed in the b1g. A setter makes all the difference and from what I've seen of hunter in highschool and club, plus what people and cook have said about her, she seems like the one to do that. Now she won't be carlini and be this other worldly player, but she will make a difference You're the same age as Hunter and you live in Hawaii. How could you have possibly seen her play in high school or in club?

I remember seeing quite a few people play, now at the time, I has no idea who they were. But looking back I do. Again, I'll reiterate this, I'm not an expert, far from it, but it doesn't take a genius to know setting is a problem for the team right now. Also I'm the same age as burgess etc. not hunter.

Why was Keil not suited up tonight? Cook mentioned in the press conference that Keil was sick tonight and the doctor held her out.

very true. much tougher match for FSU than Nebraska, all things considered. Hell, that first set could really be contributed to HCA. I didn't watch the match, but I do know that Nebraska tends to win a lot of first sets at home...sometimes the other side takes a bit to settle in and shake off the nerves. I don't entirely agree with you about the match being tougher for FSU. FSU nothing to lose, no pressure. Actually Nebraska is a notoriously slow starting team. Agree that it is obviously a very tough challenge for FSU to play a team that good at home, but they do get to play the match with house money so to speak. I don't understand Nebraska's slow start then. They should have had a leg up on everyone else given that they started playing earlier than everyone else with trips to Japan and China and scrimmaged against those pro teams in June-July.

Being on the floor across from the Huskers made it easy to see after a set whether the hitter would be able to put it away. When the set wasn't particularly good and the hitter had to notably adjust her shot, which happened a lot in the second half of the fourth set, you knew the ball wasn't going down before the ball even crossed the net. Not being able to terminate when the set's not on was the Huskers' biggest problem tonight; it was the catalyst for their hitting errors and the second-chance opportunities for the Noles where they could eventually kill it via a roll shot over Mary or a sharply hit down ball because the middle wasn't there to close. The latter effects are certainly adjustable for Sunday, though the cause is a bit more disconcerting.

Wow! Major props to FSU defeating Nebraska in front of a sold out raucous opposing crowd!
