Another 5 set loss to the Noles? Excuse me while I vomit. It's just frustrating as all can be. Florida fans can't stand losing to FSU in any sport, and the Noles on this board will share the exact same sentiment about the Gators. Florida, especially recently, has been caught up to in or even surpassed by FSU in sports that quite frankly, they have no business being caught up to in. The Gators had 7 trips to the Final Four in volleyball before the Noles even became a blip on the radar, now they're every bit as good, if not slightly better than the Gators, and it sucks. The only thing that would make it worse is FSU somehow winning a title before the Gators in a sport Florida has been far more successful in historically. Oh well, congrats to FSU!

I have to say I wasn't too impressed with either team. FSU had some really good blocks. Both teams made too many errors. Florida needs to get their serving under control.

I only watched the first and part of the 2nd set, and, to be fair, maybe both teams settled down.
But what I saw, especially the 2nd half of set 1, looked like two very average high school teams. I know that's not the case, but the play, serving in particular, was not sterling.
Yes, I know all teams can have stinkers (see Washington vs. PSU last December) but it's that kind of play that probably keeps the casual sports fan from becoming a volleyball fan. Watching two teams hit the ball long, hit the ball into the net, hit the ball long, shank a serve, hit the ball into the net, is just not compelling sport.

5 set match and nobody over 40 attempts? Hrm
FSU knows how to compete. It doesn't look like Florida has that intensity. Nice athletes though.
Walch elevates the level of the Seminoles. They are sitting pretty having made it through the big names on their schedule.

Wow, I just...well, I...it's... Wow. And I thought Hawai'i's fans were fanatic. Its early in the season. Both Florida and FSU will improve. From what I watched, neither team are side out teams. It's bang, bang, bang.

I have to say I wasn't too impressed with either team. FSU had some really good blocks. Both teams made too many errors. Florida needs to get their serving under control. Most of which were coverable and could have been another transition swing opportunity when they are soft blocks that go deep and high and they hit the floor it makes me really mad. No reason the libero or ds could just turn and run it down. Easier solution is to just have one player always hang farther back when covering hitters. Obviously an absolute roof won't be covered unless a player is right under the block really really low but these high soft blocks have to be covered. Beating other top teams comes down to tiny little things like that and being low error. They serving was atrocious but I understand they want to get teams out of system many times in a match but I hope we use the sec foes to get more consistent with it before post season.

It was not artistic but it was exciting. Overall FSU won the scoring battle by 8 points. The the service error battle by 9. It was as close or closer than it looked.

It's bang, bang, bang. I was raised in a sports family in a sports town, every game is life or death to me. I am honestly in a awful mood right now from the outcome. This one could have gone either way, and unfortunately it went the way I did not prefer. The season is still young and the Gators can address their issues to become a better team further down the road but the pain of losing to a hated rival in 5 is going to leave a bitter taste in my mouth for awhile.

Back from Tully and my thoughts
1) I hate that FSU didn't make us pay for the 1st set SEs. We didn't deserve that set and we needed to face the adversity that that created.
2) our passing was below average. And that had nothing to do w FSU serves. The serves were manageable, we just weren't focused. That led to us not getting enough attempts to the middles
3) UF is more talented than FSU overall. But FSU is better at competing and that's the difference.
4). I hate Tully gym. Flipping sweat box

I was thinking Missouri, too, but really, FSU has about as many quality wins already as Missouri last year. If the Seminoles get through with few or no losses looking at a top seed.
