I think Wisconsin is much, much better than CSU but am excited to see the match regardless. I just love blaming things that may or may not be caused by the altitude on the altitude. This also looks like the smallest CSU team (height-wise) in a while. Wonder if they're playing a different style.

CSU is an excellent blocking team. Altitutde will not be a factor. The key issue will be can CSU pass Wisconsin's tough serving and can CSU's freshman H1 hold up under pressure. Player for player the Rams are one of the five best blocking teams in the country.

One could justify every single one of the above losses as "NOT" an upset. However, as stated in the question, this is about current AVCA Poll rankings and the interesting number of early season top match-ups. If the current #2 team beats the current #1 team, that qualifies as an upset, regardless of the excuses.

Conventional VolleyTalk wisdom (and I use that term loosely) so far is that Penn State Washington Hawaii will all be upset this weekend.

Think of the dilemma AVCA voters will have Sunday IF.... Stanford beats Penn State but then Illinois beats Stanford and Florida knocks off Texas.

This is suppose to be rebuilding year for psu. I know a rebuilding year for psu isn't typical of most teams. Every year is a rebuilding year for PSU and yet they still pound out outstanding teams.

I'm almost positive 2008 was anything but a rebuilding year for PSU. PSU loads almost every year, and that talent stays talented. 2010 was a rebuilding year (even tho they returned the best middle and one of the best opposites in the country), this is a rebuilding year but this Monster of a class will win at least 1 national championship

Any altitude adjustments for UW in Provo, or about the same? Have I mentioned I'm going to this match? Have I mentioned it will be mid 80's? Hope they don't try to honor me at intermission or anything

A team led by the best coach in women's college volleyball that is currently starting four seniors and two juniors, five of which are national championship starters, and returns their First-Team All-America setter while loading up the roster with what is arguably the best freshmen class ever assembled in the history of the sport is "rebuilding?" Forgive me while I laugh out loud.

Forgive me while I laugh out loud. It's one of those pre-fab buildings. And they've got really efficient construction crews who are working 24/7. I'm sure the buildings will be finished in time for the conference season.
