I don't like this poll. It's very clear that the coaches let losses to unranked opponents slide with many teams USC, Purdue, ASU, Illinois....

I don't understand why Hawaii fans are weighing a lot on just Nikki Taylor. sure she may be a factor but If you take a look at the different matches against the ranked teams, they were very close in each set... and they were all winnable (if that's a word). I mean we could have had over time in the UCLA game if Manu-Olevao didn't serve into the net and out both times. Higgins kept going left side which every team knows is Hawaii's bread and butter so they kept camping out there. I think Hawaii could have stayed in the top 25 if they made smarter plays, connect better with the middles and served their balls in. The UCLA, Lowe was the way ahead of her team in kills where Hawaii was evenly distributed and they were all tight sets. That means Hawaii has the fire power but they're not doing it because of the serves and defense.

And Hawaii sitting at #26 has no bearing on this opinion? It has some bearing but not as much as you may think. That loss to UTSA is more impactful than any victory the Aggies had this weekend. Did I mention that UTSA has only 2 wins this season with one of those wins coming against the Aggies? As for Hawai'i, the streak of being a ranked team for 22 straight seasons is gone but it is what it is. The Wahine are only going to get better now that Taylor is back in the lineup... With a healthy Taylor, I doubt the Wahine would have 3 losses on their resume. And the three losses are three losses regardless of who played. Maybe if Aggies had their top setter available they win against UTSA. Simple fact is they didn't and Hawaii didn't win their three matches either. Against top 25 Hawaii hasn't won but Aggies 2-0. I would rather wait until after the two matches with Florida State to assess their improvement from first week but I figured Texas A&M would be about 20 so 21 is fine by me

Oregon without brenner (in the hawaii match) I doubt it. With Taylor, hawaii offense would be so much better. The fact hawaii competed with those teams without their strongest player, shows how good this hawaii team is

I am not worried, that Hawaii is out of the Top 25, right now. Once everyone's conference season starts I do not see a lot of those teams ranked between 20-25 staying there long. With Nikki Taylor back, and this might be a BOLD Statement, but I do not see the Wahine losing a Conference match. With that in mind, I see the Wahine moving back into the Top 25 very shortly.

Colorado St. beats BYU+, and jumps from 14 to 8. I like the Rams, but... Shades of the last pre-tournament poll last season.

Being out of the Top 25, I feel, will actually help the Wahine. It will make them practice harder, and come together as a Team. The Wahine will be a very dangerous team to contend with going through Conference season and beyond.
Nikki Taylor is the glue, the aircraft carrier, of this team. She will make everyone else on the Wahine team look that much better.

At one point during the Texas A&M v USC match, Haley and Aggies Associate Head Coach John Corbelli got into a verbal spat with each other while approaching the down ref after a lengthy rally between the two teams. For a second there, I honestly thought we were having a Cook/McLaughlin moment. The look in Haley's eyes after he sat down while still looking at Corbelli was... fantastic! He was fighting for that point USC had won and it appeared he was not going to let that point be taken away. I know some are not big fans of Mick Haley. But I love his competitiveness, among other qualities that I respect. He believes in his girls and has high hopes for them. Side-note: Texas A&M is a great team and I hope they continue to rise in rankings throughout the season. Talented setter. And Opposite Ashlie Reasor is very skilled as a freshman. Maybe this is why Mick is one of very few voters not to have Texas A&M in the top 25 Believe me, Mick understands the cult like culture of A&M.

Yes, in Navy terms, they always build a fleet around an Aircraft Carrier. That Aircraft Carrier is Nikki Taylor. Then you have the Destroyers, which are the 2 Kalei's, followed by the Missile Destroyer which is Tai Manu-Olevao, and last, but not least is the Cruiser, a quick strike vessel, and that is Olivia Magill.

Kalei Adolpho is more like a submarine; sometimes she disappears.

How can A&M be behind SC? They beat em in LA. I know, I know, bad loss, but I put more stock in those head to head battles. Both teams know it's for big stakes. And A&M behind San Diego also makes little sense. I would put Oregon higher, they've beaten 3 B1G teams and Hawaii, that rates ahead of BYU and USC, also Colorado State, which has a loss and their big plum is a BYU win. Besides Texas, Big 12 is not represented well in the poll, and they have the 2nd best conference winning %, by an easy margin. I'd put FSU ahead of Wisconsin and Washington until one of those two emerges victorious this weekend. Florida State has played an impressive schedule and won them all.
