Such a pity that a great poster has lost it. LBJ thought he could win the Viet Nam War. Always sad to see somebody crash and burn. Is Bik a personal adviser to Chriss Christie? Anyone can crash and burn at any time. That's why I always carry a bag of marshmallows.

I paid $110 for season General Admission tickets to Washington. But that gets me in to all the volleyball (and the soccer, gymnastics, softball, baseball, too). Oh yeah, and that actually covered two tickets, one for me and one for my dad. Thats a better deal than Southern Cal!

I paid about $300.00 for my Wahine season tickets, which includes 19 home matches. I paid $56 for Southern Cal season tickets and you can sit where ever you want Bragging or complaining? "Cheap tickets and sit whereever you want" is generally not a sign of health for a spectator event. It tells you that not enough are going.

I have been getting season tickets off and on for over 20+ years and it has always been this way. When Southern Call had their great 2002-2003 teams they only attracted 500-600 people. Tough sell and competition with so many other sports teams in the area.

Personally I think the Devaney should have been allowed more general seating. The skyboxes, imo, are a waste of space and look out of place on that big white wall and would've made excellent seating. I've never understood Cook's and Nebraska's fascination with sell-out records. They don't have much meaning when boosters will buy out remaining tickets just to keep it going--for football anyway. I think they said earlier this year that there was a large ticket waiting list so clearly demand isn't the issue. Also, I think all UNL students should be allowed to watch at least one volleyball match during their stay. It's ridiculous that they are stuck in four (three really since the band takes up one) cramped corners of that big arena. They also really oversell student tickets, and many get sent up to standing room only. I just think it's a shame.

You're right, it's a huge problem for Wisconsin and its 4000-5000 fans (and before you ask if this is a new trend, they've been top 5 in attendance for 15 years).

Actually, I think it's clear that Nebraska used to have an artificial ticket shortage. The 4000 seats in their old place was just far, far below demand. Now that they have a more reasonably-sized place to play, I think we see a truer picture of the level of support for Nebraska VB -- which is still dang high.
Reserved seat season tickets for Washington are $165/seat. However, like I said before, I was able to buy two general admission season passes (one adult, one senior) for $110. That's partly because the demand for tickets at Washington, while high compared to average, is less than half of the demand for tickets at Nebraska. But it's also partly because Washington can seat up to 10,000 people for any given match if the demand is that high (which it never is). So there is no scarcity of cheaper seats, which means the GA ticket price is only $8 for a match or $60 for a season.

"Cheap tickets and sit wherever you want" -- sign me up!
Southwest Airlines has cheap(er) tickets and you can sit wherever you want. I'm not sure when they started that policy but it's one reason why I fly Southwest all the time (well, within limits).
I think this policy would be a problem only at rock concerts. People will get (and have been) trampled to death!
This policy won't work too well at venues whose respective admin wants to cater to the richer/well-off fanbase (e.g., old geezers with plenty of moolah). Imagine their indignation when the students take over all the prime lower level seats. They might even stop coming to the matches -- the last thing the admin wants. When I'm older, I really do not want to compete with all the young kids -- especially the dumbasses -- for anything, because I'll probably get killed.

Yes, it is still is the sign of a problem. A problem for whom? I've never understood why so many on this board desire so much to "grow" the sport. Well, to be more precise, I understand perfectly well why those who make their living through the sport want there to be more money associated with it. But as a fan, why would I want more attendees who will just drive up the ticket prices and prevent me from sitting where I want? The Wisconsin situation sounds ideal to me: cheap prices, the seat you want, and enough people in the stands, relative to the size of the arena, to create a buzz without ruining the buzz. The Nebraska situation, with due respect, brings to mind the phrases "too much of a good thing" and one that doesn't apply there, "a happy medium."

My retirement plans involve watching lots of volleyball. I really hope the price of tickets does not go up astronomically. Stanford men, free. Stanford women over 55, $5. Cal, 10$, St. Mary's 7$? Move it here and pay $1500 for a studio, but by God the vball is affordable. I suspect the same in socal.

. Also, I think all UNL students should be allowed to watch at least one volleyball match during their stay. I just think it's a shame. All Students at Southern Cal are admitted free to all home matches. But when you have the Lakers and Clippers playing less than Mile away at Staples Center, Dodger Stadium 4 miles away, The beach and UCLA 14 miles away it is tough to get people to show up.
