I see we have segued to the USC-UCLA match on this thread. However, what struck me about the Stanford match was that in Sets 1 and 3, Stanford passed well, hit in system, and played pretty much textbook volleyball. In Set 2, they passed poorly and spent most of the set out of system, and looked like the bad news bears for much of that set. They look like the number one team when they pass well, but I think there are a lot of other teams who can convert much more efficiently when they are out of system. Just my observation. Yeh- just looking at the stats- hard to believe that, with Inky being her usual dominent-self, the 2 OH's Burgess and Howard still hit .100 and .095.

15-7 UCLA- USC takes it's 2nd TO.
Not looking good for USC. (Be lucky for any Pac team that gets to play them early before Ms. Nwanebu gets back in the groove and Ms. Ruddins comes back.)

Howard kept hitting right into the block, and Burgess sailed a few long. Not typical unforced errors for Stanford, but maybe they need more practice being out of system and keeping it in play!

Easy formula for UCLA: Formico to Consani to Lowe. Repeat as necessary with occasional change-up of passer. I am impressed with Consani's ability to put the ball right where Karsta Lowe wants it, front and back row. (Consani is currently #2 nationally in assists per game. Thank you, Karsta Lowe.)

It is awesome to see someone so dominant as her (and of course others such as Inky) who can hit/ jump like that (at least when they aren't playing "MY" team). (I still remember one of the worse home losses I saw at Colorado was CU's 1st year in the Pac and UCLA came into town and Kidder and Love were EFFORTLESSLY going over our blockers seemingly EVERY play.)

Lowe now with 14 kills per the announcers- not bad for 2 sets.

Lowe hit .440 in first two sets with 14 kills. Next for UCLA were Strantzali and Buechler with 5 kills each. UCLA hit .357 and USC .206 in the first two sets. USC also had 11 service errors! Bricio has not been in her top form. Announcers keep saying that USC does not take away the angle from Lowe when they are blocking. Lowe has been cutting cross court and putting the ball on the 10 foot line.

VERY impressed with Consani's connection with Lowe. The thing is, they aren't even all that consistent of sets....by design? maybe, by probably not. Some are pretty high and Lowe just reaches and spins them deep, some are low and fast and Lowe speeds up her approach and rips them cross court.

USC is really struggling in the backcourt without Hagglund there.

14-9 UCLA- TO USC (Always wonder why coaches take timeout one point before media timeout.)

Interestingly, Consani's connection with the middles has been pretty awful tonight.
