Isn't air travel so amazing? We should all thank the people who work so hard to allow us to travel so quickly. They must be super awesome folks! Yep, gotta love those Airbus guys. Oh, wait...oops. Well, my favorite Airbus employee isn't a guy, but I'll pass your sentiments on to her.

Actually not a fan of the Airbus (although I'm looking forward to checking out the A380) - it always feels like they have this odd fishtailing movement. Not a big deal in 1st/business, but definitely feel it in the rear (uhhh, so to speak). Does Airbus not use yaw dampers?

But maybe you are feeling a difference between their systems and ours.

Yes Nwanebu is playing backrow. She hit several balls from there against Cal. Yes they are a better team with the changes made. Those earlier losses to ASU, Texas A&M, even Florida, in my opinion, could be wins now. They have a history of beating Stanford. Maybe they'll do it again. Disclaimer: I am not a Trojanette fan (and I won't even say "Women of Troy").

Feminizing mascot nicknames that are gender-neutral has always annoyed me. Why can't all the USC teams just be Trojans?

Oops, low hanging fruit. Perhaps I should have used a less suggestive mascot. Adding "ettes" or otherwise trying to divide the genders for no reason has just always been a pet peeve of mine.

I am just glad that DeKalb (IL) High School, where Courtney Thomas played, didn't have a sexist ad who turned the Barbs into the Barbies for girls' teams back in the day.

San Francisco is an hour flight. They came home. Makes plenty of sense to me, especially in the middle of the semester. Why would they schedule a wednesday-sunday match? makes no sense. It's more money/time traveling, either way. Either the team spends 5 days in a hotel room, in the bay area (not cheap), or they take 4 total flights within 1 week. And the Pac-12 was supposed to be the "smart" conference? I'm sure a team would much rather play the very next day rather than a wednesday-sunday spread. Television money!

Fast forward two months and a half after I started this post, and despite the record, USC is better. After I have said some pretty negative things about USC, here's some positive:
Bricio has accepted the role she just has to do it all. Any subpar performance from Bricio, and USC is in big , big trouble. (Can she lead USC back to the Regional Finals - where it has been every year since it missed in 2009)
Nwanebu is still not all the way there, but she's looking light years better. Ebony went OFF last year in the USC Regional. She is USC's most emotional player and watch for the next two years for Ebony to take over leadership. She plays her best in the NCAA's - I think her numbers were 53 kills on 1 error against Washington and BYU . That 1 error was because she stepped on the 3-meter line for a D-Ball Set vs. BYU (that would have been a kill)
Whittingham is a stud. She's no Natalie Hagglund - but I like her at Libero. She was shaky at first - but I like her serving game and I think she is an EXCELLENT second-option setter. Not only is her location great - but I can't say I've ever really questioned her decision making on the set. She has settled in.
You've got to be proud of Young. Sure - her hands aren't Kendall Bateman's, but she's a hard-worker. Her 6-2 lefty presence in the front row opens up the block for her hitters. Her lefty over on two is a little weird - to me it's actually harder to block than Carico's was. Probably for the fact that Emily is taller and she has more shots. It's not always a hard swing on two.
Hannah Schraer served well @ UCLA.. her and Ogoms blocking however, was subpar. USC needs these two to step it up in the blocking game. PENETRATE! Offensively, I love Ogoms-Pizzasegola.
Alice - Much improved player. Pizzasegola has learned how to play defense! She's not a particularly great defender, but she gets the job done. I think she has fine-tuned her setting. And even though it's a deep dish - she's playing better than earlier in the year. I love her fire and energy!
Ruddins - USC asking a lot out of Ruddins - but I think she's the best option at where she's at. She seems more comfortable only playing three rotations. It's perfect for her - she's not a spectacular passer but only three rotations takes a lot of pressure off of her. She is NOT lined up next to Nwanebu - so the block is actually keying in on her. She needs to step it up offensively and be consistent, I think her blocking is actually improved.
Schmidt - The glue and key to the Women of Troy success. Anne Marie is playing better defense and looks more college-adjusted now. She's a solid passer, and a solid defender. She is a tad slow it appears at times to react - but I still think she's a huge reason why USC is better with the new-line up.
Good luck to the Women of Troy in North Carolina! Should they handle Coastal Carolina, they should have a match with the ACC Champions North Carolina.
Can the 10th-place PAC team beat the ACC Champions?

Can beat North Carolina, based on USC's talent? Yes. Will beat North Carolina? Not seeing it. 'SC has lost five of their last six, they don't exactly have a hot hand right now. And North Carolina aren't chumps.
