Can beat North Carolina, based on USC's talent? Yes. Will beat North Carolina? Not seeing it. 'SC has lost five of their last six, they don't exactly have a hot hand right now. And North Carolina aren't chumps. While true, it's a decent draw for them. They can definitely do it. I don't see it either, but all things considered, drawing an ACC team in the 2nd round isn't terrible. I'd much rather face an ACC team over a Pac-12 or a B1G team most days of the week.

I've been watching North Carolina matches, and I certainly think that USC has more firepower. North Carolina's passing is suspect, and if USC can get them out of whack, they have a HUGE advantage. USC's problem is going to come if they can't stop Chaniel Nelson. UNC went 5 sets with Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech, but on the other hand: They swept Mich St, Michigan, Long Beach State, Oklahoma, Duke, Miami.

And North Carolina aren't chumps. True, but based on a smaller sample set of their last two matches (a road win against a good AZ team and a close five game match at UCLA) you could argue they are on the upswing. I wouldn't bet on 'SC because the game is in Chapel Hill, but would not be surprised if they won.

I don't have them beating UNC either, but it definitely wouldn't surprise me if they did.

I have to say that Mick has been dealt a pretty good hand. Now what does he do with it? Can he get his team to rise up from the ashes like a Phoenix or will it be more of the same inconsistency that has plagued the Women throughout the season.? I guess we will find out in a few days if this team is ...

I agree that the draw could be much worse for USC. I just have no idea which USC team will show up - Good USC that swept Colorado in Boulder or beat Arizona 3-1 in Tucson (a match where all the pressure was on 'SC)? That team can compete with North Carolina. But Bad USC - losing to Cal in Galen and getting obliterated by Oregon St (25-13) in a match-deciding set in Corvallis? That USC gets swept out of Chapel Hill. This year's edition of USC is like a box of chocolates.

Just like my love life the same time volleyball season started, I had high expectations and now feeling the low of disappointments. I knew it was a bad sign when he wouldn't go with me to a game and do something I love to do: support my Trojans. He did have a crush on Ebony though which was kinda cute since he's a fellow Texan.
Come in ladies! Many believe in you and will support you. One game at a time and believe in yourselves that you can beat these teams. Regardless of the outcome, I'll be back at the Galen Center next season cheering you on since 2001. Fight On!

Ford had 37 kills in a 20-18 5th set loss to Redondo (Iosia, Bedart Ghani - 22 kills) in the CIF SoCal finals last night. Wowza.

Great night from Mick's next DS/serving specialist. Don't they already have an undersized OH that can jump? I don't think they currently do. They had Bria Russ but I think she's w/ the sand program now. Personally, I'm fine w/ an undersized player that has super hops, but if that player isn't a strong serve receiver, she wouldn't solve USC's ballhanding problems. SC needs another Sara Shaw.

They have one coming next year. Alyse Ford who I think stands around 5'9-5'10. She can jump out of the gym and can hit crazy angles but her passing is suspect.
Agree though, SC needs another Sara Shaw and I don't think they are getting it from Ford or from that 2015 class. Maybe try with 2016.
