Will it continue? Noticed USC's Spring Roster shows no Wiemer, Schmidt nor Wheatly. And lists Ruddins as a MB. First spring match this Saturday.

I had heard earlier this week that Anne Marie Schmidt quit the team and was surprised. She was considered quite a defensive standout during her prep career.

So SC has no DSs and Whittingham is the only libero? Okay, those OHs are going to be forced to develop their passing/digging skills. Mick should start offering scholarships to some of those beach players.

I'm sure someone will be moving to fill that open vacancy (s).

Seems like USC should expect more inconsistency this year unless Mick can rectify their unbalanced roster. Stockpiling elite attackers is great, but they're ultimately the final link in the chain. To be a championship team, you have to build from serve, serve-receive/passing, and setting.

If the roster stands as is sans DS's, maybe the coaches are banking on a Whittingham/ Bricio/ Wallace-Ford or Gillis passing platoon for all 6 rotations since evidently Ruddins will now be trained as a Middle.
If Nwanebu can come back healthy and play all the way around and Bricio being Bricio, they have enough of a threat from the backrow to mask some of these deficiencies.
Does seem like an awfully big gamble just having Whittingham on the roster at this point.

USC has a pretty good libero from Red Rock coming in, I assume she'll be first DS off the bench. Wouldn't be surprised to see a walk-on or transfer join as well.

Ruddins moved to middle is a surprise. I dont see her beating out Dunn and Ogoms as she does not have the speed. Do they have any incoming freshman middle? Maybe Ruddins will move back to outside when season starts

I think Ruddins was listed as MB for spring training only. They have Rachel Reed coming in and Ogoms and Dunn will be there starting middle. From what I heard from USC coaches, they are really excited about Baylee Johnson. She has been training with the team for the past three months and puts up a big block.

I assumed USC will still ran a 6-2 so a big block by their incoming setter will not mean much. If they ran a 5-1, I think Abercrombie will not be happy to sit behind Nwanebu for another 2 years
