I miss the days when MN was known for their defense. It's been downhill since Peniata graduated. Goehner played well, however. Right? I think Wilhite, Santana, Goehner and Rosado give us a shot at being solid on defense. Schau isn't bad either. Plus it helps to play behind a solid block. Still think this team has potential to be good. Better than tonight, for sure. Northwestern match is big.

It was a sweep but MN certainly didn't make it that "easy" for Illinois. Just disappointing because the first 2 sets were there for MN to take being up 22-19 in both.

Definitely some fundamentals to work on but some things are getting better but the consistency just isn't there yet.

For those saying no passing or bad passing, were you watching the same match? Gophers couldn't terminate. Problem is clearly with outside hitting and too many roll/tip shots.

I almost posted this in a thread about ISIS. Oops.
Sarah is at a crossroads. She can be really good or she can be like she's been the last couple of matches. I think it's a confidence issue now, but she needs to be aggressive.

is Rosado playing that bad that Goehner can't be put at OH2?

Easy time? OK, then. I just don't get what people expect from this team. I really don't. It's disappointing, yes. But they were not expected to win this one. Then let's just go with the preseason polls and save everyone the time and not play the season. The frustration comes from the inconsistency (and not just from the new players) and the fact that we had leads late in both sets and let it go.

Yes, a real bright spot is Paige Tapp. She continues to impress. MN has both Tapps for the next 3 years so let the block party continue!!! Agreed! So nice to see Paige in particular getting more involved. She definitely did not hurt us in this match.

Guess expectations were for Gophers to compete more and grab at least one set.

I think we need to be patient. With Schau. With Wilhite. With Rosado. Nora is what she is. Daly is playing hurt. The Tapps are getting better and better. Goehner is getting better. Stick with them. That's all. And please stop thinking I am attacking you. I am not.

Well we'll have to be patient with the starters because I don't see anyone on the bench that can come in and do much better. Perhaps Handley.
I did think the Tapps played well and Goehner as well.

I think to level-set the expectations for this team is that they make the NCAAs. I think they can do it and hopefully by the end of the season can pull it together enough to make their own regional. They will probably have to go on the road to play a seeded team to do that however!

They are pretty weak in the back row. Best case scenario, Hannah and Paige continue their tear at the net, and Goehner can anchor down the back row while Daly/Wilhite can try to at least be serviceable back there.
