Listen, I'm not trying to make friends or impress anyone on this forum with an exceptional display of attitude. I couldn't care less what users on a message board think of me, so I post what I want within obvious boundaries. (don't take this as an attack notpriddy, it's not) I say what I feel, I don't sugar-coat things, and I'll criticize from a fan's perspective as much as I feel a player, coach, or team deserves, but this is ALL from a volleyball standpoint. That's where I draw the line. I know they are (mostly) all exceptional people off the court, and they've accomplished alot thus far in their careers to get to this point. Goodness, I don't think mnsports is so bad. In fact, deducing from the posts that she is a high school student, I think the posts are generally enthusiastic, informational, in complete sentences, lacking "OMGs" and show a lot of maturity and most importantly, don't insult other posters (ahem). It's ok to be frustrated once in a while, and I think over the body of work mnsports has a lot of nice things to say about the Gophers. I think we all know the players are working hard, have a lot of stress and pressure as student-athletes, but are also occasionally getting insulted by their coaches, too, right (and sometimes in press conferences)? What's a terd? Is it anything related to a tern? (also impressed that mnsports knows the proper term is "couldn't care less," not "could care less.") And no, I do not know mnsports in any way, shape or form. Thanks gobucky! That was a neat thing to read, so I appreciate it. I'm really not a villian, and many users who I interact with here regularly and share information with (often through PM) know that. And even though I get some flack for it, I'm not afraid to write what I think about an individual or team's performance, because I have strong opinions. That's just the nature of it. I also try not to get personal or name call with anyone on the forum, because there's no good that ever comes from it. Thanks again gobucky and hope you get a great match to watch on Friday!

These are kids and they do read this don't they? Hard to remember that sometimes. Not as many as you'd think. None of my friends who play for NL or M1 knew what VT was when I mentioned it to them. Hence my thought of "she" (along with other posts from the past - maybe faulty memory).

So, MN went to Champaign on Wednesday, back to MPLS, and then to Evanston on Sunday? Or are they in Illinois waiting for Sunday? Why on earth didn't they just play Northwestern tonight (Friday) for a nice, compact road trip. This is why I question the whole "dedication to the student athlete" PR BS.

My guess is they have been in class and will travel tomorrow, not on the road waiting for Sunday's match.

Wait until a Maryland/Rutgers split road match (I know, not this year).

the BIG schedule this year makes very little sense Oh, ye of little faith. It makes lots of unfamiliar sense once you ask the coaches what went into making the schedule. The two new things this year are: * adding two more teams * more games broadcast by BTN Old things: * pair the teams up as travel partners * play a 20 match conference season Decisions by the coaches * If your travel partner is on BTN Tuesday or Wednesday, you also play a mid-week game, to avoid the situation where one team is playing back to back Friday/Saturday and the other isn't * Increasing the length of the season was rejected as too stressful for the players (coincidentally, it would be bad for conference RPI) * Using an end-of-season tournament to pick the conference champ was also rejected as unfair and stressful So far, so good, so sensible. Consequences: * you play 7 teams in the traditional home+away duo, leaving 3 teams home only and 3 teams away only * you can't split the season into two halves in which you have played (almost) all of the other teams * you double up the home/away games with your travel partner in the same week, which as a side effect will convincingly demonstrate what home floor is really worth To those of us who started watching B1G volleyball when it was only 10 teams, play each team roughly 5 weeks apart, once home and once away, it looks a little weird. But there is a good deal of method in their madness.

I see you skipped over the negative academic consequences. It is not "weird"; it is that is doubles up travel and doubles up missed class and study time ( unless you suggest that the bus/plane trip is quality academic time).
