This match is a trap for Washington UCLA believes they can play with Washington. The Huskies also have been playing everyone close lately they better be on tonight or this could be an upset in the making. Word is Karsta Lowe is dressing up as Godzilla and is going in for the kill. um.... yeah. Right. Volleyfan24. At least no one knows your real name, so you haven't lost credibility in the real world.

Karsta Lowe is a great player. GREAT. But this is the second match I've seen where she had a really off night. Vansant has slow starts, the sporadic bad set...but never does she have a really bad match. That's the difference between the two. I think a bigger difference (other than one is lefty, one is righty) is that Vansant is surrounded by good players, Lowe is not. Washington is loaded with weapons. UCLA is Lowe.

Actually, Vansant snuck into the UCLA locker room before the match and switched costumes. Thinking she was Godzilla, Lowe ended up putting on the Gamera costume instead. When she came out of the locker room, what did she see across the net? Godzilla.

Go back to the Stanford thread where you belong. I watch all teams play I watched the match UCLA came out and played like crap and Washington played perhaps some of the best volleyball I have seen from them all season. This match was uncharacteristic of both teams. Washington distributed the ball to everyone and was doing everything well and UCLA couldn't get any of their hitters going also the setting was crappy even Lowe was upset and she hit .000 . Nothing was right for UCLA last night. As for my credibility I think it stands steady I made a prediction before the match and it was wrong, come talk to me when you actually watch more volleyball then just your team.

Mick Haley said that what worried him about Vansant wasn't her in-system attacks, but her out-of-system attacks. Even when you know the set is going to her, she's hard to stop.

I think a bigger difference (other than one is lefty, one is righty) is that Vansant is surrounded by good players, Lowe is not. Washington is loaded with weapons. UCLA is Lowe. And Buechler. UCLA was hurt by Strantzali fighting an ankle injury (brought up by the announcer), which left them playing a one-legged LS (Lawless). UW has shown in the past that when they need to ride Vansant, they usually can (see 2013 L.A. Regional final). That's part of the reason UW is 5-0 in 5-set matches. While Lowe has a higher in-conference hitting percentage, that's generally true of OPPs vs OHs.

Not fully, but she is close to being back at full strength. Sealy pulled her from the match because she had 1 hitting error, 1 service error, and 1 passing error in the first set. He never played her again until the end of the 3rd set. Sealy wouldn't have brought her in again at the end of the 3rd set if she was hurt. I'm not sure why he didn't give her another chance until then. Edit: Actually, I think that service error came in the 3rd set. I should've also noted she played all 4 sets against Cal in UCLA's last match.

Looks like Consani cinched the starting spot for the rest of the year, if a team must go down in flames might as well enjoy the ride.
