I would totally agree with four of the five, but even I have a hard time with Libero. Saying that, I only saw the other PAC-12 liberos on the day they played the Huskies (with a few exceptions) and in the last month I saw no one better. She has made remarkable strides this year and definitely would deserve the "Most Improved" award. And, of course, no other libero comes close to being as dynamic a server as Cassie.

Lol @ Strickland as Libero of the year. That's got to be the Joke of the year. You know there is someone more deserving than her. I would even take Oregon's or USC's libero than her. Unbelievable.

It's not happening. Actually, that's one of the reasons why I was sure Vansant would win POY. The PAC knows she is a very strong candidate to repeat as NPOY, and they were not going to undercut her chances by letting people say she wasn't even the best player in her own conference. (That being said, IMO there was no better choice anyway. Lowe had a great year, but Vansant was still better.)

Hey, you all need to go easier on Strickland. After all, she was ninth in the league in digs per set. That alone should qualify her.

Huh. So there are now 18 players on the all-conference team. the more players you add, the more it dilutes the honor. OTOH, when you think that 10 teams made the tournament, it makes sense with that kind of a talent pool!

Well, Strickland is obviously the most controversial selection!
I guess the voters must have been really impressed with her play at the end of the year. By the end of the year she was easily one of the best liberos in the conference.

And yet, somehow, they are the #3 seed in the tournament. Digs/set is a highly overrated statistic.

On the other hand "she" (her team) was #1 in Opponents Hitting Percentage, a much more important stat. Plus she was by far the leader for liberos in Aces and OOS Serving. And, by the end of the year, she definitely had the "Wow!" Factor.

I am actually fine with Strickland as Libero. She brings so much to the team. It is more than straight stats. Cassie is such a dynmic player that brings so much more than straight "digs", which is what so many people look at when judging a libero. There is her passing which is very consistent, there is her defense, there is her leadership on the floor - helping to guide and direct the offense and defense verbally and often, there is her serve, and then there is her pure passion and drive to succeed and help her team to succeed. All of you that go off of pure stats truly do not understand the overall dynamic of having a player like Cassie on the floor.

Brenner got 1st team. Unexpected. Teams also expanded from 14 to 18 players.
Congrats to all honorees!

Liberos dont even serve in international games. So yeah, Pac12 people, your libero of the year is 9th in the league in digs/set. Good decision.

If so, I guess the OTHER coaches felt she was the best libero. I've seen every PAC 12 team this year and I'd easily say Strickland was the best libero I saw play.

Unbelievable that Strickland is libero of the year. She has an argument to be the third best libero, but is still light years behind Benson and Gilbert. I really hope that this lights a fire under those two, they definitely got the shaft.
