People often forget how competitive ACC is. UND landed practically at the bottom, while Louisville ended with a losing conference record. Meat grinder schedule, yes, the ACC is not the B1G or Pac-12, but still tough teams, and a solid Louisville team is only .500 overall. Imagine if Louisville improves and ND gets turned around with a great coach hire...even tougher to win

Even teams in the lower bottom of the ACC are still better than these mini-conference champions.

Both programs should be better than they are.

Who are the leading candidates for the job? Well there wouldnt be any "candidates" yet, but plenty of really good people have interest. I am sure, ND will identify 2-3 people and go after them.

Since Swarbrick is a die hard Indiana guy, he would do well in tapping into the Ball State/Muncie coaching tree.

How about a 2-fer -> Cook to Notre Dame and BIG RED hires a new coach that aligns with Nebraska's mission statement.

Since Swarbrick is a die hard Indiana guy, he would do well in tapping into the Ball State/Muncie coaching tree. While there are obviously very strong coaches with Indiana ties, Notre Dame isnt an Indiana or even regional program, and that is one of its great appeals, and why it is a great job. You could sign a top player out of LA, Texas, Florida, on top of being smack dab in the middle of all the talent in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan etc....... If they pay (no reason to believe they wont) this is a top ten job.

I attended a Catholic junior high school and they made us pray...a lot. These prayer sessions caused me to constantly groan and mutter, "What the f***?!?!" I was one of the few non-Catholics at the school. Sure. You're going to blame all your profanity on your parents for sending you to a Catholic junior high???

Volleytalk is like Fox News, no matter what the topic is, it takes about 5 minutes before Bill Clinton is brought up. Hysterical. Nebraska hired Cook away from a great job, paid him head coach money to be an assistant, and have given him consistent raises which now pays him a half-million dollars annually. I get the feeling they may be pretty happy with him. Call me crazy.
