Competitive Fire. Not everyone can be happy, and IMO they shouldn't be, by being a "reserve" for 4 years when they could be a full time starter at another school. A valid point, but what about the complaint I hear from people on this site that these student athletes should be choosing the best university that fits them? I totally get that most all girls prefer to start. Several people complain on here about early recruits and how can they possibly know what college/major would be best for them. The above argument kinda implies they should be picking a school they can start at instead of what is best academically for them. Maybe the student-athletes should decide the hierarchy of their priorities? People on a message board can have their opinion, but it's not their life and they don't have a better insight into the desires and values of the student-athletes than the student-athletes themselves. To use myself as an example, it was highly annoying how many people thought they knew what was best for me or the hierarchy of criteria I should use in selecting a school. Some had my best interests at heart, others had the interests of their favorite team at heart, but ultimately, they had little insight into what I wanted and needed. Whether a kid chooses a school for a coach, because it has the most playing time available and can start immediately, because of the academics, because of the social life, or some combination of attributes, ultimately it's their decision. Moreover, if a kid decides to leave a school for whatever reason, then they should. Again, it's their life. They should live it as they see fit whether making a correct decision or a mistake. In relation to transfers, it usually doesn't say anything about the school, program's coach, or student-athlete, all it says is that a concurrence of events led to one or more of the parties involved wanting a change and a new opportunity. I know that's hard for many outsiders to believe because they want there to be some titillating acrimony to gossip about, but it's true.

If volleyball coaches and players had to live by the same transfer rule as NCAA Men's basketball rules (i.e. sit out a year if you want to transfer)...that would make it better for both parties and we wouldn't be talking about this on a volleyball talkboard). Four transfers from a program in one year is absurd. Appears to make the recruiting process very suspect in empty promises. And additionally, the kids would have to think harder about transferring.

Bravo....all those words and no point of view....everything's just fine and dandy. There was a point of view, you were just too interested in pushing an agenda and/or dense to see it. This makes your agenda clear. You want to chastise a situation you know nothing about and subsequently impose your worldview on how collegiate volleyball should operate. All the kids who've left have either received, or in Mad's case will receive, scholarships elsewhere. They all wanted a higher probability of playing time and moved on to schools where they perceive that happening. Where is the harm? You're trying to make these players prisoners to the school they choose at age 18 (if not younger). If anyone in any walk of life wants to make a change to gain a better opportunity, they should. It's arrogant for outsiders to think they know what's best for these student-athletes. Of course, I'm sure a few fans want to spin it as though the players that left were shoved out and somehow convince themselves that a lack of evidence for their claims constitutes grounds for accusation. I hope you're never on the receiving end of the treatment you're so ready to dish out.

Sorry I think you misunderstood my comment and that is my fault for not being more clear:) I have no problem with kids transfering at all. Not even in the slightest.

Any word on the new recruit, Sylvia Driskell? A right-side from Auburn right? Sounds like she was dismissed.

Not a-typical for those from Nemaha County. Or really southeast Nebraska in general.

Ok, so we'll agree on just 8 transfers in the last 3 years...... I don't see Shelby Winkleman listed. She was a basketball Gatorade player of the year in Missouri. Ended up transferring to DII Central Missouri State to play basketball and maybe volleyball. I see she is listed on the vb roster. She was a surprise walk on if I recall, because of her basketball skills and chose Nebr volleyball instead. Only saw her play in the red/white game, she did awesome, but rarely saw the floor after that.

Didn't see this posted yet but Alicia is also going to play basketball next season and has a decent shot at getting a schollie under Coach Yori!
