I agree. She's obviously coachable. Her improvement year after year has been impressive. She has the confidence that setters need. An uneducated question - How would Micha do on the sand? I've been saying this for years!!! She has so much potential. Although her jump serve might need adjustment. 2 great indoor players with great jump serves are April Ross and Logan Tom. April's serve translated to beach well; Logan's not so much (hate to say this I love her)...

Defensively and passing and setying fine but hitting and blocking on the modern small court ? Idk

Murphy looked so uncomfortable setting in that one rotation when Fawcett serves. I'd rather see her first improve her digging, then blocking.

Hochevar? That's random. Other than the fact that they are both tall and blonde, they have nothing in common as players. Oops-who is the big girl from LBSU that played on the National Tram? Hochever not even close to Haneef. My bad.

Hamson is too slow and and a liability in defense for international play. Also at that level blocks are much higher which will mitigate her slow pace and very predictable hitting. She might play but will never be a star or an all around player. I hope she sticks to volleyball and proves you wrong.

It's going to be a tough decision either way, but Karch seems really concerned with team chemistry and having more "all around" players, so Murphy hitting for 3 rotations and setting for 3 was a consideration perhaps. Both Glass and Murphy need to get better digging in right back, especially Murphy sometimes she does so so, but it wasn't like Hooker was all over the place back there either. It's interesting because just a few years ago we had no idea how any of this was going to go, gunna be great to see how it turns out, just maybe this time if we get to the final, we don't let Brasil kick our ass if we play them. I'm hoping someone else rises up and knocks them out early...somehow...divine intervention perhaps None of us has any idea who will be there besides the few locks, that are obvious. Like this idea, how about a real 6-2 with Murphy and Glass playing all six rotations, each one setting from the back hitting in the front. Murphy's setting skills can compensate for Glass' problems going to the middle. When Glass digs the ball in the back, Murphy could set her a D ball. The obvious locks are obvious. Oh jeez, i wouldn't even want that, Murphy hasn't set since college, i'm not talking about her setting NOW. Sure she could set Mann high enough generally but Glass hitting? No, I know you were joking man, but still that would be insanely horrifying.

Hopefully Lowe gets a chance. Watching her go right over Howard showed what she can do with a good set. Hancock has certainly earned a shot, particularly since there's no clear number three at present. And Vansant certainly should get a good look against the big girls, since USA is automatically into the Grand Prix finals.

Karsta Lowe: More potential than Murphy. I think she's capable of big things at the next level, and she has the right attitude to do it. Krista Vansant: The NCAA rarely produces a complete OH like her these days. I'm very interested to see how she adapts to the international game. A good number of players are going to get looks during the winter/spring training blocks.. and even stay into the Summer, but IMO, these are the only two that have a chance to make rosters. Micha Hancock: I don't know. Setting wise, could she run the system Karch wants to run? I'm not sure she can. Jen Hamson: I thinks she would almost immediately be relegated to the double-sub role (in general). Haley Eckerman: I really like Haley, but I have no idea what she would even do for team USA. She cannot play OH at that level, and as for being an opposite, can she run that quick of an offense, especially on the RS (which is probably the quickest set they run to the pin)?? Haley's block is not that great and she cannot run a fast offense. That played out this year when TX tried and couldn't because Haley struggled.

In those years of trying beach, did Logan stop playing pro indoors? If she stopped, then I stand corrected. If she was just moonlighting on the beach I'd argue that wasn't much of a commitment.

She played something like 30 AVP/FIVB tournaments between 2006 and 2007, living and training every day here (South Bay). She was committed at the time. I don't remember if she left for indoor at the end of the beach season though - but at the same time, playing both is something plenty of beach players have done in the past.

But which players were elite in both at the same time? Maybe Elaine Youngs or did she not become great in beach until she gave up indoors? Anyhow I think if Logan really enjoyed beach and made beach her priority, then she would have been amazing.

Money's better indoors, so even though beach is more fun it's as simple as that.

I want Logan to make a run for Rio2016. Just one last time. She is playing her best her France right now!
