The scene where the players are boarding the team bus is one block from the arena, no bull****. What is the point? Did you want them to walk a block, carrying their gear? They got to enter as a group, through the phalanx of PENN STATE fans who were waiting for them? That was a really neat experience for the players. Walked through the Convention Center Saturday on my way to lunch in Bricktown when I ran into the Penn State women walking back to the Sheraton after the walk through. The bus trips are to circumvent the crowds.

It's not just Penn State. All the top programs have so much talent that there are elite players who don't win a starting job. That is what you sign up for at PSU, TX, Stanford, and prob. Washington. You want to play for a program like that, the starting job is not guaranteed -- it has to be earned. And do you really think Simone Lee would rather be all conference than experience what she got to experience this year? Yeah, she didn't get a lot of starts, but she did play a big role in winning this championship (ask Wisconsin!). IF YOU'RE A RECRUIT HOW CAN YOU NOT CHOOSE PENN? I was wondering complete opposite...how does PSU continue to get girls to come there and give up 25-50% of their career to sit on bench. They consistently get great players to agree to sit on bench for 2-3 years to wait their turn to play. To me that doesn't make any sense Look at Simone Lee...would have started on almost any other team with chance to be all conference...and she rode the bench all year.

Yes exactly, without Lee, I very much doubt PSU would have gotten by Wisconsin. I'm sure Lee knows that, I'm sure her coaches and team know that. Simone Lee as a freshman got to play a big role in winning a trophy. Her future at PSU is very bright. If I were her, I wouldn't have any regrets. Erica Denny was injured. She did not waste her career. At all. Not one minute. And if not for Simone Lee, PSU might not even advance to the final four.

And if not for Simone Lee, PSU might not even advance to the final four. Simone Lee is good, but Frantti is just a whole lot better. Penn State returns all of its starting pin hitters (Frantti, Courtney and Whitney) so I guess Simone Lee will ride the bench again next year and be the "supersub" like what she did this year. What a nice problem to have for Penn State. Lol Like me was said before they started this year, Simone lee just needs some polishing she will be ok. Most knew franti and Washington would be ready to go

There are a couple of middles on the team and would make a great run to replace Nia if she can be replaced Few years ago people where crying how we can replace Meghan, how can we replace Alicia, how we can replace...? When you have the talent pool Russ have and you know what are you doing and he certainly knows what he is doing, then your players will grow and will step up. For all doubters at the start of the season, so who is THE CHAMPION? Year after year Russ creating new stars, so please let him worry about replacing Nia and let him choose position for Ayana. BTW, she played OH since she was 13 or 14, so I am not sure that it will be the best for the team to move her to the middle. Once again, congratulations to all PSU fans on VT with another CHAMPIONSHIP!

what a asxxxwipe comment. BYU a great team, PSU prepared and persevered. BYU just gave 100% for 2 weekends and couldnt sustain. PSU beat the team that beat Nebraska, Washington, Texas, and Arizona. Rraly, not impressed. WOW You're probably right, that's not a fair statement. I guess my intent was to point out BYU, and their play and poise last night, compared to the rest of the tourney. Obviously a lot had to do with Penn St, but seems they left a lot on the floor and mailed it in too soon. Never seen so many spatches, hit out down balls, service errors from Hamson, etc. Not a good night...

The only thing that concerned me is when she was setting some of her now teammates in under armor game her sets were a bit low. Lee and franti are athletic enough at a high school lvl that they made sets still work. That won't fly against big teams. I'm assuming Rockwell has helped her polish that part of game

Carlini wasn't exactly Carlini-like at the Under Armor game either.

He consistently out-recruits everyone and his match planning game plans for each specific opponent is spot on. Because of his superlative recruiting prowess, he doesn't rebuild, he simply reloads. As long as Russ Rose is coaching women's VB @ PSU, PSU is going to be in the hunt and among the favorites to win the National championship. RR is to collegiate women's VB what the Wizard of Westwood was to collegiate men's basketball. Congratulations to Russ Rose and to Penn State for yet another National Championship. An UNPRECEDENTED run of consistency.

Unlike schools like hawaii. Russ is an excellent recruiter, and probably the best one out there, but it's not like he would have a hard time selling his school, even if they weren't at the top.

That's why we should entice him to coach here at Stanford by doubling his salary, supplying him plenty of Cuban cigars (now that we have normalized relations with Cuba), and numerous bottles of Cabernet Franc (which we have plenty of due to our proximity to Napa Valley). Cheers!
