Titles aside, how would you rank the B1G coaches from top to bottom as the total package? Rose, Hambly, Sheffield, George, Bond, Cook, Dunbar, Shondell, Aird, Hugh, Rosen, Carlston, Chan. Considering that not all the coaches in the Big Ten are great recruiter but have a collective great staff. I would rate them based on recruiting as followed based on kids they have gotten over the past and future classes success: Ross Sheffield...beat Hambly out on Duello Hambly Cook Shondell Carlston George Bond (low Bc he has to prove he can recruit to the big ten...he's a proven winner though and will win at Iowa) Rosen Chan Dunbar Aird (this low Bc he has not proven he can close as a head coach...really nice guy though and I'm sure he'll do well. One of only a few on the list that will actually say hello to anyone at tournaments...doesn't big time people) Hugh (not a proven recruiter)

YELIN!!!!! Turned Barry university from a joke to a national championship team. Turned Louisville from a joke to a top 5 in the country contender. Let's face it the man recruits better than anyone out there as a head coach whether or not you agree with me especially with his international background against him with kids here in the United States. He's the most decorated international coach in the country STILL in DIvision 1 and he's not part of the good ole boys club which is even more incredible.

I agree with his past but what he is doing at Syracuse isn't selling your case. Stick with the past.

I'm sure i will get flack for this, but I don't see it. Penn State got talent before she was there, while she was there, and after she left. Texas got talent before she was there, while she was there, and after she left. So I don't see what she did to make the recruiting at either school that much better. And both schools she was at are pretty easy to recruit volleyball talent for.

Well, what about Illinois State's coach? There were three all-Americans (HM) on their roster this year. She obviously convinced them to go to Illinois State--when the program wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire.
Beyond that--this 'best recruiter' thing is silly...people either name friends or 'in' names. You want recruiting--go look at the small programs, the D3s especially--where they are convincing kids to pay $40k/year AND recruiting 8-10 kids per year. Or the two-year colleges--where they are recruiting 5-8 per year without a five or six person staff. THAT is more impressive as recruiting skill.

Doesn't mean she isn't a top recruiter because she is, but your statement is as I said accurate. Her contributions have been immeasurable, and in so many areas.

I've heard players remark that Salima is able to connect with young female athletes on a level that nearly no other recruiter can. I'd imagine that goes a long way for an athlete.

I dont think even Tom Hilbert has gotten there yet.

Jsn...interesting rankings. Rocketman, those finish averages are not correct over the past 5-6 years.
