Stan Sheriff Center lacks intimacy. LOL...we are talking about volleyball right?

Crawford Hall is a disgrace. A Division I program should be extremely embarrassed to play even one match there. It needs to be torn down tomorrow. Love those September/October games there on a hot day when it is 85 degrees outside and 95 inside. Miserable. I guess it was so bad that their coach left UCI for podunk Concordia down the street. They need to play ALL their games in the Bren Center...especially against Long Beach State!!

I thought I knew a month ago, but that turned up being very premature (my apologies for jumping the gun earlier on this thread). I heard a different name this past weekend. So apparently I know jack. Er, which doesn't answer your question, of course. So, now a bunch of guys are scrambling to find out if there are any coaches named "Jack".

Over on the jobs thread, someone suggested that UCLA's Brad Keller is a candidate. (Maybe Jack is his middle name.)

Stan Sheriff Center lacks intimacy. Put 10,000 people in there and it starts to feel pretty intimate.

Colleges absolutely love their alums, so anything could happen, but I don't think Wing has any head coaching experience. She was an absolute stud player at Irvine and in the pros, though. Fun idea.

There's a good reason colleges love their alums. Cuz those alums love their colleges. It's mutual love for each other.
For those that don't know, Kelly Wing was the pride of UC Irvine like Emily Hartong was the pride of Hawaii. Wing was Big West Player of the Year and named All American more than once, as was Hartong. If Kelly Wing ever did return to UCI as a coach, myself and probably the UCI fan base would be very excited.

Is it possible Wing has any eligibility left? We can always use more offense.

Hey, what about bringing over Tom Pestolesi and have his daughter, Keri, a former Anteater, as one of the assistants? He knows everything about the game and she has spent a couple years coaching at Concordia. Could be fun.

The finalists were Lauren Sewell, Ashley Hain, and Tim Nollan. Expect an announcement next week. My guess is they will go with a female.

okay I know Nollan , but who are the other two?? Gotta think Nollan is the favorite. Hain -- American River College. Sewell -- Fresno State. This is either a set up for Tim or an extremely underwhelming move. Looks like Hain played at UC Irvine around the time Kelly Wing was there, but I don't remember her.

Kelly Wing at the pin, Ashlie Hain setting and Amanda Vazquez in the middle. Those were some great times for UCI.
Ashlie Hain was 1st Team All Big West setter who still holds UCI's all time career assists record.
She's also a past winner of UCI's Athlete of the Year.

Ashlie Hain took over at American River when they were a basement dweller.
She is a young coach who has since won several conference Coach of the Year honors.
Hain turned American River into one of the top junior college teams in California.
Her 2013 team finished 3rd in the state polls while her 2014 team finished 8th.
Note: Tom Pestolesi's Irvine Valley team finished 2nd in 2013 and 1st in 2014 with an undefeated season.
