I thought she wasn't playing professionally this season? Whatever, it makes no difference. Gabi is going to have a very nice future on the Brazilian NT. However, I can't see her having the kind of success Paula, Fe Garay, and Jaque had/are having. Sorry about your butthurt. I don't think c4ndle is butthurt for correcting you...yet again. Do the people of this thread a favor and keep your uninformed statements reserved for the Stanford players. lol, well look who we have here.. You're both butthurt. If Gabi ends up being Brazil's best offensive player, they're going to be in trouble. Good player, but not the dominant attacker that Paula, Fe Garay, Sheilla, and Mari were in their prime. Sorry 'bout it.

If it's true we'll have two different teams for the PanAm Games and WGP, and assuming each one has 14 players, and that Sheilla, Fabiana, Thaisa, Jaque, Fê Garay and Tandara won't play most, if any, matches, Zé will probably pick 28 players out of this list: S (4): Dani Lins, Fabíola, Macris, Ana Tiemi, Juma, Naiane, Claudinha OPP (4): Rosamaria, Bárbara, Paula, Natália, Joyce, Monique, Andréia Laurence MB (8): Adenizia, Bia, Angélica, Carol, Mara, Letícia Hage, Natasha, Carla, Juciely, Natália Martins OH (8): Gabi, Michelle, Suelle, Ellen, and I cannot think of anyone else, which is soooo depressing! L (4): Camila Brait, Suelen, Tassia, Léia Can you name someone else? I really don't remember any other players. Maybe one or two players from the youth NT will be there, but I doubt it. Man, how I wish Brazil had the same amount of good players you guys have! I've seen Bruna play a few times and was impress by her play. What about her at Opposite?

I've never been blown away by Monique either. This season, she's plays OH for Sesi behind Suelle and Pri Daroit. I actually like Monique's younger and shorter sister, Michelle, a lot more, but I don't see either of the Pavão sisters making it on the Rio roster.

Monique is a good defender, I think that's why she was on the NT. She did her job well there! I do not think her or her sister will be in Rio either, but they will probably be called this year. She had an injury at the beginning of the season, then Talmo moved Barbara from the middle to opposite, and she's been great. Monique is OK now, but Barbara still starts every match for SESI.
Superliga semifinal matches:
RIO x MINAS April 3rd - 10pm April 9th - 9:30pm April 17th - 10pm
SESI x OSASCO April 4th - 11:30am April 10th – 10pm April 14th - 7pm

I watched both semi-finals and the Osasco/Sesi game was so painful to watch. So many mistakes on Sesi's part and the only hitter they have is Fabiana. I could not believe it went to 5 but that's because Osasco made too many errors in the 3rd and 4th set. Minas/Rio game. Jacque is still a dominant player; hitting and floor defense. I thought that Minas setter Naiane was very good, Carla (OP)and their Libero Tika played well. But this is the only time that I have seen Minas play. Brazil will have good teams for the years to come. It will be fun to see them match up against USA up and coming team.

You're right about all the errors, and Fabiana and Jaque were their teams' best players. Latest news outta Brazil is that Jaque and Murilo are likely to play professionally in Poland next season (Jaque is being scouted by Chemik Police, and Murilo has gotten interest from Trefl Gdansk and Skra Belchatow).

The 2015-2016 Superliga season is going to be fairly lackluster, since most of the country's national team stars will be playing overseas. Fe Garay and Fabíola extended their contracts with Krasnodar. Sheilla plans to stay in Turkey with VakifBank, while Fenerbahçe is in talks with Fabiana. It's also been posited that Thaisa will play for a Turkish club next season (but I'm not too sure which one). This sudden diaspora of Brazilians playing overseas shouldn't be a shocker though. After the Superliga imposed rules limiting how many stars can play together on a given team, some players made public statements in protest of the new rules, including Jaque.

That will change the dynamics of the superliga and the European teams that pick some of these Brazilian players up. Is the pay the same or better for the top players to play in Brazil or overseas? I understand the point rules that players are assigned (5,4,3,2..) but it makes sense not to stack a team or two up with all the really good players, it would take away from the competition of the game and the league. Doesn't some of the European leagues, limit 2 foreigners to suit up?

Doesn't some of the European leagues, limit 2 foreigners to suit up? Yeah, the Brazilian volleyball league is a cash cow (just ask Ary Graça). The athletes there are paid handsomely and have some of the best and most competitive contracts in the world. The clubs are sponsored by a lot of the country’s largest conglomerates, subsidiaries, and brands that are deeply entrenched in the Brazilian vernacular and economy. Some of their equivalents in the US would be Hanes (Lupo), JP Morgan Chase (Banco do Brasil), UnitedHealth (Unimed), J.D. Power (SESI), Nestle, Zillow (Elleven), Buick (Val du Lion), Lowes (Jaragua), Otis (Equibrasil), Johnson & Johnson (Unilever), Slimfast (Ades), Crest (Dentil), Neutrogena (Neutrox), Orbitz (Bancorbras), and Kraft (Camponesa). You're correct; most domestic leagues in Europe restrict teams to two foreigners that can suit up and play at any time, but in international competitions, there's not a restriction on foreign players. The Azerbaijani league is an exception, however, since it only requires at least three domestic players to be on a team's roster, and two of them must be on the court at any given time for domestic play.

And tonight at 10pm is SESI and Osasco's game two. Last night Rio beat Minas 3-0 and will play in the final, in April 19th.
