It makes sense she committed there. They love the heavy hitters who can't pass.

Honestly, after watching a couple videos of her playing this year, her passing really isn't as bad as people are saying. And she's only a sophomore with much room to improve! I'm excited!

Having watched Lexi regularly in both high school and club, here's a few observations and speculations: -- Superior OH / athlete to Yazmin, so immediate playing time not an issue. -- Lexi is always having fun on the court, so she may have picked up a fun vibe at UT, staff -- At this point, she seems less "interested" in passing and defense, her technique is average, and not because she hasn't been coached properly and plenty. It could be her wiring. Great athlete does not mean great passer, so Texas "style" of vb a fit with her current skillset, with less pressure to improve rapidly. -- Enormous talent as a hitter: angles, height, arm speed, off block, shot selection -- Hers may be a very intelligent decision, because imo while young, there's uncertainty in projecting her as being the same fully rounded six rotation talent as Haley Hodson, Jordan Burgess, Megan Courtney, Samantha Bricio, or Krista Vansant.
For me, passing on the Pac 12 is still a big surprise. Mick worked his butt off and seemed to be at every tournament, and obviously felt he could develop her. Lexi will make it fun in Texas.

Texas is going to drain Calif of some of its best players. Jerritt is a great recruiter.

Could part of reason she chose Texas is because it's closer to home and her family and not across the country. That can play big part for some athletes

Could part of reason she chose Texas is because it's closer to home and her family and not across the country. That can play big part for some athletes It does not matter that Penn St is across the country, it is just hard to get to period. It is not near a major airport (Harrisburg is not a major airport) and if you do fly non-stop to a major airport you have to drive several hours to get there.
If you choose PSU it is for Rose and the chance to win Championship(s)!

Only point I was trying to make is that is influential as a specific coach can be they're other things that can be in play also.
