I will humor you.................if Rose had those teams he would be threatening John Wooden and his 10 championships in 12 years RIGHT NOW! I think Rose is the best college volleyball coach in history, but the idea that Texas rolled out way better players and Rose out coached them is silly. PSU was LOADED with talent. okay, so let's assume there are 5 teams each year with equal talent (out of 320 that is a pretty reasonable request no?). If Rose did NOT out coach them (including Jerritt), what is the probability that 6 out of the 10 years ONE team would win? Even with 4-5 teams it is still in the thousands. It is not attributable to chance. Now if there were only 2 or three teams each year that had the same talent, you could get into that this past decade is because of variance. There is no rational way of arguing that he did not out coach the rest of the contenders. You know better than me, how many teams have similar talent to start the year?

Texas is a great program, but I do wonder about elite players wanting to play in a conference that isn't the Big Ten or Pac-12. If I'm an elite player, I want to maximize my potential by facing great competition night in and night out during the season. UT players get better competition in practice than during league play (for the most part). That's not to take away from UT's achievements, but I think that's in part why they come up short in the postseason more often than they should. On the other hand, their postseason accomplishments are nothing but admirable; I'm just considering their results with respect to their roster talent. Well, UConn women's hoops is now in the AAC conference, and not in the Big East. And, guess what? Geno Auriema continues to sign the best recruits from coast to coast. With our incredible new volleyball-only practice facility at Texas, playing in front of a packed and rowdy Gregory Gym, the city of Austin, great academics, etc., recruits have endless reasons for wanting to come to Texas. Texas osing to BYU had nothing to do with the competition in the Big 12. Arizona, Florida State, and Nebraska all lost to BYU, and they are in 3 of the best conferences for volleyball, while BYU is not. For those holding their breath hoping the Big 12 will affect Texas attracting elite volleyball players, you are gonna turn blue before that happens . . .

Who is going to the SMU match on April 3rd?
Season ticket holders have been invited to tour the new practice facility before the match.

Now back to sun...
Where do people see her ranked come prep volleyball. I know TAWA has said for sure top 5, but is she really the top recruit? To those who know this class well, can you answer this

Too bad the same posters try to sabotage every pro-Texas thread based on their own insecurities. #pathetic

Maybe Mick can come watch us play in person on our home floor during the Regional in December. He knows his way to Gregory Gymnasium. You are very disrespectful and seem to have a lot of anger. Why don't you walk over to the coop and go upstairs. As you come downstairs, read the names on the banners. Last time I was there, Mick's was printed yet Jerritt's was still on a piece of tape (hopefully they have fixed that by now). It is really speaks volumes about your own insecurities, that you get so rude and hyper defensive when someone points out what you (and everyone who has watched TX volleyball) knows to be true. How does saying "what about your school" invalidate his point? Can't we just move and and debate the topic at hand? Like, why is she not at Stanford??? Well said, really, well said.

I don't think its insecurities at all. I think its a valid opinion. In my opinion his ability to coach is not equal to his recruiting ability. If it was....look out. I also don't respect the way he allows his players to act on the court but that is a personal thing with me.I think it shows a lack of discipline not only among his players but also to his character. Southie....you can scream, and complain all you want but I guarantee a great deal of people share this opinion.

IMO injuries have plagued the Longhorns over the years, not the coaching.

You can't see the forest through the trees. The disrespect being shown in this "LEXI SUN COMMITS" thread is so thick. As I said before, anyone who wants to start their own thread to diss Texas' passing, ball control, offense, etc., go for it. This is not the appropriate thread for that topic as it is about LEXI SUN'S VERBAL COMMITMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN. Obviously, there are a handful of posters who just can't help themselves. And, several others take the bait and start talking about Texas final game in 2009. I guess Lexi was 9 years old back then, in case anyone is interested, as this thread is about LEXI SUN. Then you have those posters who can't help brining Penn State and Russ Rose into the discussion here, too. I guess that's okay if we're talking about how Lexi chose Texas and Jerritt instead of Penn state and Russ.

Lexi Sun never considered Stanford as what I have been informed. I don't know if it was grades or what. Anyway, this decision of going to Texas is a shocker to me. I was expecting she will go to USC.
Lexi is a clear top 3 on that class. I have never seen a lot of 2017's dominate the high school like she does. If Texas secures another top 2017 talent, it is shaping to become the best recruiting class in prep volleyball, could even be better than PSU 2014 and Stanford 2012.
Congrats to Texas. She will be a fun player to watch!

I'm surprised, too. I don't know if she ever attended any Texas matches in Austin (on unofficial visits and on her own dime), or attended any of our summer camps. I can now assume that she must have made at least one unofficial visit to Texas in order to decide it was the place for her. Perhaps USC was her leader at one point. Perhaps they were even leading last summer, but then she saw firsthand the dreadful product Mick rolled onto the court for 2014. bigfan, you think that's what happened?

Well I already acknowledged Rose is the best coach in volleyball, so yes he is going to out coach (prepare) people. That wasnt the point however. People were saying Texas had the best talent and "shouldve" won. I ask those folks this, "if you thought Texas should win that year, did you have them picked to win before the season, or FF?" If you didn't ( I don't know who would have given PSU's talent/experience) you couldnt say that because they were up 2-0 they should have won. PSU was loaded with talent, Texas did not take the floor with flat out better talent.

I knew that would get your goat. I guess I should have put /sarc after it. No need for the personal attack. I have not commented on your intelligence. No need to comment on mine without a source or citation to support your assertion. Stay classy.
