Never mind ... looked it up 1.a Mormon who is not strictly observant. "the only thing that's going to end up happening is me doing homework on Sundays and drinking Pepsi and being just another Jack Mormon" 2.a sympathetic non-Mormon living among Mormons. I guess I'm a Jack Mormon if homework on Sunday and Pepsi are the criteria! Jack Mormon is someone who doesn't go to church, probably drinks a bit, etc., but still considers themselves Mormon. aha don't blame me ... blame Google

Contrary to what you said, your post clearly is MPSF bias. And this is coming from a Midwesterner who held the thought that as a whole the MIVA was still not on the same level as the MPSF even though it was clear both Loyola and Lewis could have played with the top of the MPSF even before the NCAA Tournament. Throughout the season I thought that if either (or both) of Lewis or Loyola played an MPSF schedule they would be right there with UCI, Hawaii, and Pepperdine fighting for the top spot, but wasn't sure that either of them would've separated themselves from that pack. Having said all that, it is clear that Loyola and Lewis were the 2 best teams in the country and it isn't even debatable. Those 2 teams combined for a total of 6 losses this season (compared to 55 wins). Of those 6 losses, 4 came to the other team. Of the 2 left, 1 of those was to another MIVA team (Lewis's loss to Ohio State). Their only loss outside of the MIVA was Lewis to BYU in 5. Both Lewis and Loyola swept UCI (the top team in the MPSF having won both the regular season outright and the MPSF Tournament) this year. Lewis and Loyola combined to go 5-0 against Penn State, the team that beat Hawaii, the 2nd place team in the MPSF. Loyola absolutely dominated UCI in the semifinals. In the finals, Loyola had an instant classic battle with its MIVA rival, going to 23-21 in a 5th set, as competitive of a match as you will find. UCI wasn't even close to that kind of competitiveness with Loyola, nor was Hawaii with Penn State, who, again, those 2 teams went 5-0 on the season against. If you want to talk about how "mediocre" the final match was, you may want to shift your focus as to how the MPSF got so dominated by the average teams from the MIVA and went 0-2 in the NCAA Tournament. Sometimes players go out and make some plays. Sure, there were some decisions that could've been better and some errors that could've been prevented in the match. But guess what? That happens in every single match at every single level. Find me a match where there aren't poor setting decisions in an MPSF match. Or heck, in an international match. Find me a match where there isn't a single hitting error at any level. It simply doesn't happen. It's part of the game. It's why a team hitting percentage of .300 is a very good hitting percentage. If errors didn't occur that number would be 1.000. Seems like you're setting the bar too high by about .700. Sure, Loyola let some opportunities slip away after having a big lead in game 1. But in my opinion, it had more to do with Petty taking over to get Lewis back into the set and then Powell closing the set out strong. And sure, Lewis let some opportunities slip away in giving up a lead in game 2, but again, in my opinion, it had more to do with Loyola's serve receive tightening up and being able to run 4 options at Lewis down the stretch. Set 3 Loyola just dominated every phase of the game, and you tip your cap to them for playing clean volleyball. And set 4 was some of the best volleyball in the college game you will see, with some very good defensive plays leading to some great rallies. Set 5 could've gone either way and Loyola went out and won it rather than either team losing it. You should probably lower your standards or open your eyes to the fact that the MPSF makes the same types of errors that you claim led to "mediocre" play in the National Championship that your favorite conference's teams all sat on the couch watching. Again, keep in mind (and feel free to go back and look at my posting history) that this is coming from someone who defended the MPSF throughout the season. The 2 best teams in the country played a very, very competitive, exciting match that got very clean in sets 4 and 5 on Saturday night, and we were all lucky to witness it. +1 Your serve wonderwart +1000!!! Very well put! Thanks for saying what I was thinking but could not articulate. I was there, agonized and enthralled, sometimes almost simultaneously and felt totally used up at the end. Then I watched the replay felt all those emotions one more time. You summarized it beautifully- thank you!

Cant be opened in Canada. Thanks though! If you use Firefox with the add on that re-routes traffic, it might work. Thanks for the direct link...that means it is up until ESPN pulls the link, which will be a while.
