There's always something a little gratifying about knocking out Brazil We get Germany in the quarters for a spot in the medal rounds. I haven't seen them play, but they've been putting up some absolutely ridiculous serving stats (averaging more than 3 aces PER SET). It's going to be a tough match-up as that can really exploit this team's primary weakness.

awesome win! I don't think Brazil had a block after the second set, props to Lilley. We maybe have two of the best setters in the tournament. Add Shook in there and we have 3 REALLY elite setters under the age of 18.. Lanier has been rock solid every match. I'm still disappointed no other hitters are getting any playing time though, even a couple points is valuable experience.

The winner of USA-Germany gets the winner of China-Russia in one semi and the winner of Italy-Serbia gets whoever in the other semi. It is drinks for the house when we beat Brazil. I agree with you about SR as an issue. The other is the ability to not give away free points. That was one of the big factors in the Russia match. They seemed to have controlled that part of the game against Brazil.

China, which finished 2nd in Group B behind our next opponent Germany, is absolutely throttling Russia right now (-14, -16 in the first two sets). I'm glad I don't believe in the transitive property of volleyball results.

We need to get through Germany today, and, if we win, a China team that just beat down Russia (who beat us) like a red-headed stepchild.
