Texas has been to the Final Four 6 of the last 7 years. PSU 7 of the last 8. No one else is even close after that. Right, let's see them play in the Pac or Big and see where there RPI lands them.

Dunning has gotten soft since he escaped the ghetto. But I do agree with this.

Who has the best chance to win the whole thing every year?
Penn State and then Texas. Then it's another PAC school, usually Stanford, and another BiG school, usually Nebraska. That's been it for at least 10 years, and probably longer. I'm talking EVERY year.

And one could argue that Stanford was the 2nd best team the past few years and could have made if further if the selection committee wasn't so stupid by matching PSU and Stan in the regional semis... lol But Texas, given the recruits they've had, has underachieved the most, imo. Or, if Stanford had played a tougher non-conference schedule, or the PAC's RPI had been higher, perhaps they'd have been seeded higher. But, that didn't matter those years (2009-2012) where Stanford was upset by lower seeds such as Michigan.

Out of our control. Not every school can be in the B1G or PAC. All you can do is play the hand that was dealt you.

I'll agree in part. But Nebraska's last national championship was in 2006. Penn State wins it almost every year to the point of ridiculousness. I've heard several people say volleyball should just skip the season and give the trophy to Nittanys in September. PSU has only been dominant the last few years... Do some research. Stanford and Nevraska have been at the top for a long long time. Last few years? They made three straight national finals in the late 90s and have been annihilating Big Ten competition for over two decades. I pick Penn State, Stanford, Nebraska, Texas, and USC.

Come on, your picking and choosing here. I've been fair, my point was to younger posters who seem to think college volleyball has solely been dominated by PSU and Texas are clearly mistaken and need to look further then 5-8 years ago.

Another way to look at things? LBSU was the last non-PAC10/12, BIG 12, or B1G (really PSU) to win the championship--in 1998. LBSU also won in 1993, 1989, and I think Hawaii and Pacific had their wins pre-1989.
Since 1999, it's been a big school/conference game. BYU's appearance this past year is really an outlier.

But you still have to factor in the rule changes which I think definitely boosted PSU and Texas. Of course, you can argue that Dunning could have adapted his recruiting strategy to one that more aptly takes advantage of the new rules.
