Why can't we just let this thread die? Just send an email to the forum webmaster to kill the thread. They have deleted other threads that were less offensive. For example, Shane Davis recruiting violations at Loyola on men's thread. Censorship at its finest. ESPN won't report anything because there is nothing new that is newsworthy.

Why can't we just let this thread die? Because similar injustices are still happening today in youth sports, so it requires discussion and encouragement for those who experience statutory rape to report it immediately.

I don't disagree, but there is also a point where you have exhausted all the conversation about a particular case. I believe we are here with this one. While the topic should never go away, it doesnt mean a thread shouldn't. Pretty much anyone who posts something, or asks a question could just be referred back to the endless posts that have already discussed it. Passing no judgement on anyone, nor am I defending anyone.

I will agree this thread went astray at times but it should not be deleted.
We live in a day and age of "knowing someone", it is not about who you are but who you know right? Being alive for new people to perhaps read through or re-establish the conversation is not a bad thing at all I.M.O., one of those new people could be the right person to gain awareness or more knowledge of the subject to make something happen. Just as the general conversation should never go away neither should this thread.
Being deleted would only bring this entire discussion full circle and be a shame, for years RB and company have done a tremendous job at making this specific topic just go away.
If it annoys you to still see it being discussed then it is just a simple reminder it is still wrong, I would ask you to refrain from clicking on it and let the thread be here for its original intentions.

There is no reason this thread should be deleted or discontinued, its a public forum that should harness topics exactly like this one. I will say it again, deleting this thread has no value to anyone but RB and his supporters. Making these conversations go away is something they have been very good at for a long time and this would only aid in those efforts. The more people that know of this travesty the better.

If we are casting votes in this public forum, then I cast mine to keep this particular thread open. I think this thread is good for us because it introduces subject matter important to female student athletes, parents, coaches and fans. Public discussion of coach misconduct is relevent.

Somebody just completed their Safesport certification.... So ESPN does 1 story on this. No follow-up. They must think it is a hot topic too. Nothing from any volleyball organization. Good question on why ESPN has not followed up. I just e-mailed ESPN and will report back on what they have to say. I am sure they will get right back to you. Networks that have 5-6 different channels, multiple websites for reporting, discussing and updating all things sports and various radio channels usually have nothing better to do than to respond to a random email on a story that is well over 20 years old.

I decided to contact Mike Huckabee. I figured since the Kim Davis story is winding down, he might be looking for more media exsposure. Looking to move up in those polls.

Why can't we just let this thread die? My guess is the abuse of power by RB was so abhorrent to many of the people participating on this board still can't understand how he and his club have grown and thrived in spite of it all. And this thread serves a purpose of informing new readers of his history. TL:DR - Rick Butler was a bad guy, not many people in a position to do anything about it really cared enough to do anything about it back then, Rick continues to churn out championships and amazing players, the stories keep coming back, some folks are outraged, some think it's part of the sport and society, life goes on. As does this thread.

As does this thread. TL:DR - This is your opinion with no facts to back it up. You and your wife still debating on your daughter's club choice. Breaking news: Patrick Kane is cleared based on the DNA. But you are right he is still guilty and a bad guy.

Breaking news: Patrick Kane is cleared based on the DNA. But you are right he is still guilty and a bad guy. Not solely my opinion, but based on the facts of the case. We're not still disputing he slept with at least 3 of his former players, are we? I guess we could argue whether that behavior makes him a "bad guy" or not, but my brief summary was only pointing out the majority of posters on this thread categorize him as such because of his actions with his players. There's really no ethical dilemma here. I realize you see your role here as some sort of devil's advocate, trying to form an argument without bias, but at the very least he abused his position of power on numerous occasions with very little consequence and no remorse whatsoever. That's pretty much an unbiased fact.

Unfortunately, there are coaches that approach and send inappropriate text messages to the ladies they coach. The word doesn't come out about it because in college the girls are over 18. It still amounts to sexual harassment but the coaches just get shifted to new opportunities and teams. Girls should know that a coach sending kiss faces and making comments about meeting them, or touching them inappropriately should not be tolerated and they should be able to report such activity without fear of reprisal.
That's not the current climate. An asst coach can make passes at the ladies on the team resulting in the ladies feeling extremely uncomfortable and powerless. Without mentioning names, I just ask coaches to make sure your players know that if they are receiving messages that make them uncomfortable from staff, they should report it.
