Though Fendrick won with April, man I was not impressed with her play (WAY too many unforced errors of a low risk/low reward probability). April is really something and if she put more balls in play (Yeah, I know the drill on "best server in the world"), she would separate from the field (PROOF: If Kerri can win reasonably well serving underhanded, and her Long Beach performance proved that, is KILLING the serve (WHILE missing many) REALLY worth the risk? Just say'n.... April is playing a different game than the rest of the US women right now. I think in a lot of matches it would really benefit her to keep it in more, but in the games that matter, she needs that jump serve because of how many point scoring opportunities it creates. If she can hit it like she did in Long Beach, she and Kerri are a constant threat to rip off abunhc of real points in a row

Can't argue guest2...Just wish there was more data on serving "utility". A serve doesn't have to be in to create havoc, so a bad pass "gets the job done", but as I heard recently down south: "You know what the best serve on the beach is? The one that's IN!"...Oh well, April is certainly playing lights out, so NOTHING negative can be said about her that will stick, ESPECIALLY after winning with such different partners this year...

To me, April is one of the best clutch players I've seen in any sport. I've seen her dial it up so many times when the game's on the line. April and Jen beating the Brazilians in 2012 to get to the finals is a case in point. If I was her partner in the 3rd set, I'd want her to bomb the crap out of that serve because I've seen it win so many close matches.

This is the same pricing structure Hannes runs at the Austrian event in Gstaad and thousands of people buy the packages. It will be interesting to see how many he can sell in the US.

Is there streaming video of pool-play matches from the FIVB Fort Lauderdale tournament? There is a video link off the event's website, but it doesn't appear to be working yet. I see that the finals will be televised in a one-hour block (1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Central) Sunday on NBC.

Probably just got beat by a better team playing well. Im the farthest thing from a Casey/Jake fan but I dont think you can say Nicolai/Lupo are a better team. Their season high is a 3rd and thats their only top 4 finish.
