Scratch San Francisco off the undefeated list. Lost to BYU 3-1 That's looks to have been a hellova match. San Francisco is good. It was! Not an easy win for BYU. Went back and forth a few times.

I saw North Carolina Central play North Carolina A&T. Neither team was all that bad. Central picked up its second win of the year and somehow moved to 2-15 (not sure how they've played so many matches). It's a rivalry match, but there were maybe 2500 fans in the gym including the full North Carolina Central band (60-100 members), cheerleaders, etc.

Abilene must be a tough place for visiting teams, Abilene Christian is undefeated at home this season (1-0).

That tells me how much I can trust when you say neither team was all that bad. If Pablo 317 and 324 aren't all that bad, then who is?

The Central gym is a very odd shape for volleyball, but it was very very difficult to get a seat in there, something I didn't expect. It doesn't, however, have rows and rows of seats. If I mis-estimated, I apologize. I've seen much smaller crowds estimated at 2,000. They're not good by d1 standards obviously. I've seen teams int he 300's in previous years. The speed of play and the percentage of cleanly executed plays was much better than what I'd seen of those prior matches. For example, I saw Central play a few years ago and it looked a lot worse as in not entertaining at all. Maybe it's because the teams were more or less even, it looked better.

The NCCU gym has 3100 seats. The couple times I've been there they never had more than 200-300 people. 670 is less than 25% full so there should have been plenty of seats. Here is a photo of their gym: nccueaglepride.com/sports/2010/6/11/MBB_0611103023.aspx?id=2

definitely not where the match was. It was a space where I had to walk past the band + dancers, all sitting on the floor at the same level as the court. As I think about the layout 650 makes sense. As I said I was shocked to walk into a place where I had a hard time finding a seat. Don't know why they used this venue that night. I expected to see maybe 25 people in the stands and horrifying volleyball. It was crowded and noisy and there was a band playing. The match was certainly watchable for two teams in the 300's. I've seen teams like St. Francis etc. a few years back and this wasn't that. It wasn't played very high, but the ball was moving pretty well much of the time. I never meant to imply that it was upper D1, more that we often talk about how terrible the lower teams are and this match was watchable.

Walker Complex. I am not familiar with that gym, I guess things have changed since I was there last.
