Its got to be Bricio. Taylor has got the stats but is playing on a team that will not get her the nod. Its unfortunate but a reality. What? The season has just started and you're writing Hawaii off. Hawaii is ranked #10 and climbing, and winning the title or at least making the final four is not farfetched. If you're thinking Hawaii's tradition is not on par with the others, you must be joking. Hawaii has had 4 POYs in 6 seasons. Deitre Collins (82, 83), Teee Williams (87, 89), Angelica Lundquist (96) and Kim Willoughby (2003). I think Hawaii is good, but bringing up the avca ranking to prove any point is with an astericks for the majority of the season with hawaii. They are moving up almost exclusively because other teams are moving down, not the same as moving up because of big wins. Also, the AVCA ranking has a marginal, at best, impact on the bracket. The reality is that Hawaii, despite its great win loss record, will struggle to get seeded, which greatly diminishes their chance to get a final four.

If Hawaii makes it to the final four and she continues to be on her game Nikki Taylor can certainly get the nod, as of now she is a legit First Teamer along with Bricio and Courtney The best player on every team that makes the final four has a solid chance to get it. That's not predicting much

Don't know who wins it but I think Courtney is the best "player" in the country.

Nikki Taylor is certainly behind Bricio at this point--all im saying is Nikki Taylor is one of the VERY few folks in the discussion now for Player of the year at this point. Now to touch up on your other comment about AVCA rankings and Hawaii being an asterisk from here on out.....yes if Hawaii continues to win and teams ahead fall they should move up! The AVCA poll clearly was not right (as it never is when the season starts) as it is sorting itself out as the season progresses. At this point all the teams have an asterisk. On my observations Hawaii should be within the top 8.

Don't know who wins it but I think Courtney is the best "player" in the country. Courtney hit .133 last night that isn't exactly POY worthy. I like Courtney and think she is a great player but my largest issue with her is her level of consistency in all aspects of her game. Sometimes she passes amazing and others not so much. When she hits like an all star she looks like she could play for our national team. Then sometimes she just doesn't get it done. It's why she didn't get AA last year.

Yes, Bricio, right now. It is still early. A middle could win it, if they are the most important player on a FF team.

She did have many errors, but many of the sets were not good ones due to poor passing from the back row plays. Also, she has to do so many things in the game that her hitting is not the best at time due to her moving around a lot throughout the game. I do agree that unless she upgrades her hitting percentage, she may not get the POY, but as Dorothy stated and I agree that she is the "best" player in college. She is the ultimate player with so many attributes. If she is asked to, she can set as well as any setters or defend as well as any liberos in college. On top of that she may be the best blocking OH as well.

Didn't you also say: "I think Hawaii is good, but bringing up the avca ranking to prove any point is with an astericks for the majority of the season with hawaii. Then you imply Hawaii is not good. You remind me of a poster who also said Hawaii's win over Florida should be asterisked because of home court, playing with heads in clouds, Florida had shingles, and diarrhea, etc.

Kadie Rolfzen hit .310 in the last 3 sets against PSU. If she can consistently play at that level, she's in the running.

Then you imply Hawaii is not good. I'm not sure how saying me thinking Hawaii is good, which they are, is the same thing as commenting on their relative position in the polls. I never implied Hawaii was NOT good. My reply was specifically to this comment "What? The season has just started and you're writing Hawaii off. Hawaii is ranked #10 and climbing, and winning the title or at least making the final four is not farfetched." IMO how Hawaii is treated in the polls right now does NOT have a large correlation to their post season prospects. My reason for saying so is because Hawaii moves up in the polls because other teams are losing, not because Hawaii is winning big matches. This comment has nothing to do with whether or not I think that Hawaii is a good team or not. I think Hawaii IS good, I surely don't want to see them in the Washington regional, should we host again.

Last I checked, Taylor is an OPP, which means that she SHOULD have superior blocking numbers to Bricio and Courtney because she plays in a position that allows her to see 3 times as many opportunities for blocks.
