So Pipeline and Spvb wave get screwed. Well played vuster4 . Well played. Funny how in the 18s the WI teams played in Bracket B the first day. Gotta love the continuity. I can't disagree on the unfortunate situation for Wave and Pipeline, but they do have the opportunity to move into the AA bracket for Sunday. The MVC and Southport 16s teams are stronger relative to their peers than the MVC 17s and 18s are to their peers. From strictly a team strength perspective, I think the initial seeding was appropriate both weekends. I'm sure that come the 18s PPS #3, Sting will be placed in the A bracket in their first PPS weekend. Is Wave better than Mizuno?

Wave is not better than Mizuno.

It's gonna be a crazy McCormick Qualifier this year, every team I have seen has had flashes of being the best team. I think all the AA bracket teams could beat any other team depending of the day. Any predictions for who gets a bid?

It's gonna be a crazy McCormick Qualifier this year, every team I have seen has had flashes of being the best team. I think all the AA bracket teams could beat any other team depending of the day. Any predictions for who gets a bid? These predictions are based if McCormick is still only giving out five bids like they did last year, palos results, and results from last years nationals. We'll definitely have a better idea after this weekend and seeing the wisco teams play... List of teams signed up so far: advancedeventsystems.com/Public/EventTeamList.aspx?RIZf2Tu0so3foYGSd7wimtABv16Y6ToGmPH1IEA0thPLS4Q9c7JEHt9c2o9GX1jalD_yQvIyI3bPzzCmRjICcQ2 1) Hpstl -- They're probably the consensus #1 team in the midwest right now, although its hard to tell given they've only been to one palos, and it was about two months ago. Who knows how much better Ultimate and co. have gotten. 2) Ultimate -- Undefeated at palos, except to hpstl week one. They did, however, lose to runbird at last week's GLC tourney, but I still put them above runbird, just for consistency reasons. 3) Durham -- Came t-5th at nationals last year, only issue with them is that they're relatively undersized. However, they've shown that they can win games even with the size disadvantage. 4) MVC -- Won the qualifier last year, seems like another solid team this year. Again, we'll have a better idea about them after this weekend. 5) Southport/Bounce/LIVBC-- Southport took this 5th bid last year and had a solid top 15 finish at nationals last year. LIVBC came in second last year at this qualifer and finished similar to Southport at nationals. I haven't seen them play yet, so this is purely based off of guesswork and their results last year. Granted out of all 3 teams here, they're probably the most likely to "move up". Bounce took 3rd in the gold bracket both days at Palos #2, and definitely has a height advantage over these two teams. They've definitely proven that they're capable of taking this spot, whereas the other two teams are relatively unproven so far this year. However, Southport and Bounce do face off first match at Palos this weekend, which will definitely be an interesting game and a good preview. There are a lot of teams that I haven't included that definitely have a chance depending on how the brackets/pools work out or if USAV increases the number of bids given out. These include Outrigger (Buddy Scott is on this team, which automatically makes them a contender, but again, they're unproven this year), Milwaukee Sting (qualified to nationals last year, and finished 6th at McCormick, but they're seeded relatively low at Palos compared to everyone else), Adversity (seeded 7th at palos this weekend, but they took 5th at palos #2 and were screwed over by MVC/Southport seeding wise), and both Spri teams (mizuno has the height and athleticism for anything to happen, only question is the ball control and mental focus. Runbird is seeded 2nd at palos this weekend, and is very consistent, however, I personally believe that their recent string of success is a fluke given that they don't have the size to compete with the top teams.

Outrigger is definitely a contender, they beat Aoakoa 17s last Monday (and Aoakoa came in 5th in 16 open last year).
My top teams are: 1) outrigger 2) LIVBC 3) HPSTL 4) Durham 5) Ultimate 6) Ocean Bay
HPSTL will presumably get a bid in Anaheim, and since there are 6 bids I presume MVC or Southport will be the 6th bid. Btw, there will be 6 bids this year in Chicago.
We'll know more about MVC southport and sting after this weekend at Palos. Bay to Bay is also sending a team to Chicago and they are big and pretty good. It's gonna be crazy in Chicago this year. There are probably 15-20 teams that are bid-worthy.

I would definitely put Adversity in the mix for that Bid hunt in Chicago. Once they get their middle back they will be a major contender. When they set their lineup with Cook, Lamp, and their top middle(Leo) in the front row together and when they are in system, they have a lot of options and these hitters are smart.
I don't see D1 in the mix anymore. Maybe down the road but they're a middle of the pack team.

MVC beats d1 in 2. Bounce beats Southport in 2. Ultimate wins in 2. Adversity blows out Runbird first game only to lose next two. Third game 15-4.

Biggest surprise of the day was probably Milwaukee Sting 16-1 going winless. Not really. They lost one of their middles who is swinging outside now for Southport and probably their best player their libero to MVC. Not a shock
