Palos has some really solid teams there. The most consistent was definitely Ultimate. MVC is huge and going to be very good. They lost both match ups to Bounce this weekend who took 2nd overall. Of all the teams that were there I still think HP St. Louis was the best. Incredibly skilled!
16s 1) St. Louis 2) Ultimate 3) Bounce 4) MVC 5) Runbird 6) Adversity
15s 1) Ultimate/MVC 2) Bounce Red 3) SPRI 15 Mizuno 4) Bounce Blue 5) Club 1 15 Elite

There may be potential there but their recent play has not made them a strong contender going to 3 with The Edge and other close games. Other teams have injuries and players missing and still find a way to win. D1s coach needs to make better game time decisions Lol, I definitely agree. D1 seems to advertise this whole, "D1, national championship Loyola-caliber" coaching talent that supposedly takes them up and above all other clubs. However, I don't think that there's gonna be much talent coming over in the next few years, after this 18s team leaves. Their 17s team is seemingly imploding after finishing in 17th in nationals, and is now ranked around the 50s in Palos. There's no way that players will see this and decide to come to play with them. The 16s team is slowly losing their momentum, as they just have no one to fill in this libero spot. I think it's a bit preposterous to say that the 16s-2 libero, who was on the 40th ranked team in Palos, is now all of a sudden capable of playing on the 6th ranked. If this really was the case, then I don't see why he wouldn't have just been on the 1s team in the first place, and avoid having their outside play libero. I think that D1 is going to continue being one of the better (not best, but highly ranked) clubs in the region. Look at D1 16s green as an example: if they had a half-decent, consistent libero, they would be pretty good. Putting outsides at the libero position just throws off the offense. If you look at the difference between that team last year and how they are playing this year, it's like a whole different team. Take that same improvement over towards next year, and you've got a great team. The 17s green team is only "imploding" because 1. players not showing up to games and 2. injuries (with their top outside having a fairly stagnant comeback from an achilles injury). D1 is a very good program with a very good coaching staff, yet it's very easy to hate on them because they have a somewhat annoying advertising strategy ("Shane Davis's D1"), but if your club's director had just won two national championships, wouldn't you do the same thing? There's no doubt in my mind that D1 will continue to stick around for the next couple years.

It sucks what happened with their libero situation. Very unfortunate for a team that was competing with other programs prior. Hopefully after some work with their new libero they will get back on page. Should always want all programs and players to be successful to grow the great sport that volleyball is. They will figure it out hopefully. I wish them the best of luck. However, I did hear that Ultimates starting libero was not playing this weekend and Bounces? Very interesting. Some teams are just more polished and adapt better than others.

Pretty sure Ultimate's libero was there as he was named to the all tournament team.

Who were the best 3 players by each position from the overall tournament In no particular order: Setters: Caedon Hsieh- Bounce 16 Red, #56 (All-Tournament Team, Best setter) Anthony Pheifer- Ultimate 16 Gold, #62 (All-Tournament Team, Best server) Kevin Lamp- Adversity 16 Purple, #4 (I think) Middles: Mark Brooks- Ultimate 16 Gold, #3 Jacob Shapiro- Bounce 16 Red, #92 (All-Tournament Team, Best attacker) Middle from MVC 16-KYLE, #4 (I think, whichever was the taller one) Outsides: Ian Piet- Ultimate 16 Gold, #38 (All-Tournament Team, MVP) Brendan Cooks, Adversity 16 Purple, #9 Tyler Christenson, Southport 16-1, #4 (only there for 1 week but served and hit very well) Opposites: Anthony DeGreef, HPSTL 16-1, #39 (only there the first week but consensus best opposite I believe) Kevin Lamp, Adversity 16 Purple, #4 (as well as being a top 3 setter, when he was placed on the right side he was absolutely their team's most effective hitter all weekend) No other opposite standouts, both Bounce 16 Red and MVC 16-KYLE had tall and solid opposites though Liberos: Aidan McGuire, Ultimate 16 Gold, #6 (All-Tournament Team, Best Libero) Tergel Gandelger, Bounce 16 Red (is normally an outside on Bounce but because their starting libero was absent from all of Palos he stepped in and played extremely well) Francisco Comas, SPRI Mizuno, #3? (his team under performed but he was solid the whole weekend) This is based purely off what I saw and think, if you have any questions regarding why someone is or isn't on the list please feel free to ask I'd be more than happy to answer any questions.

Does anyone know why Adversity has not signed up for the Chicago qualifier yet? Looks like there are the other club not to do so.
In the 16s division, in terms of depth, the Chicago qualifier is going to be better than the SCVA qualifier this year. There are 15-20 teams that are really solid and will be competing for a bid. They are sort of in my order from best to worst but it wasn't really thought out, so don't criticize it.
Outrigger 16U (AH) - putting them at the top because of the experience on this team (16 previous medals combined at nationals, 4 gold 11 silver and one bronze) and have a coach with national team experience as a player Ocean Bay 16 Quiksilver (FL) - had match point vs. HBC in holiday classic, and HBC came in 5th in 15 open and 3rd in 14 open, james hartley is an absolute monster, best player in the class of 2019 LIVBC 16 National (GE) - no holes, they are legit this year and are a contender HPSTL B16 Royal (GW) - athletic lefty oppo, great libero, well coached and a extremely solid team Ultimate B16 Gold (GL) - good all around team with good experience at the setting and outside positions MVC B16-KYLE (BG) - big middles and solid everything else Chicago Bounce 16 Red (GL) - big team as well, had 2 guys on the Palos all tournament team and are a borderline contender Durham Attack Black (CA) - 5th in 15 open last year but pretty small except for that middle that looks like a football player SPVB B16 Runbird (GL) - have beaten Ultimate twice Bay to Bay 16-1 (NC)) - big team, still trying to find their nitch Pac6 16s (SC) - Akhil Tangutur is legit - one of the best players in the class of 2019 Adversity 16 Purple (GL) - lots of talent but have no won anything big so far, solid team Southport 16s (BG) - 10th in 15 open last year, good team but did not do well at Palos last weekend BRYC Boys 16 National (CH) - been in the open division each of the last two years, pretty small but know how to win games D1 Chicago 16 Green (GL) - started strong but have been sputtering of late, plenty of examples if you scroll up in the forum Orlando Gold 16 Black (FL) - got a bid for the 15 open division last year, should be ok, also going to SCVA qualifier HPSTL B16 Orange (GW) - solid team, a lot of guys played on HPSTL 15-1s last year that came in 11th in 15 open Academy Boys 16 Red (GE) - a couple guys from LIVBC 15-1s and 15-2s on this team, should be solid
Others: Milw Sting 161 Boys, RVC 16-1, SPVB B16 Wave, Pipeline 16-UA, Hitmen 16-Elite, Coastal B16 Navy, A5 Mizuno 16B-Erin

Adversity is participating in the Chicago bid tourney. The club director is a bit slow typing in their entries.

On some of the best players I would have to agree, but a couple of ones you missed. Opposite MVC-16 Kyle #29 Sean Shtivelberg. Pretty much beat Ultimate gold by himself Outside Ultimate 16 gold # 36 Kyle Springer. Had some huge kills and serves in big games. Libero from Spvb Runbird -16 (sorry don't remember his name or number). Thought he was the best Libero in the tournament hands down. After those three are added I would agree with you on the rest
