Wisconsin is 36-4 in sets over their last 12 matches, including a 3-1 victory over Nebraska. What reason is there to think that Nebraska is stronger? It's funny how you mention the sets won & loss since being beaten twice in a row by Minnesota. You act like that Wisconsin is the only team that has improved since the time they were beaten by Minnesota twice in a row & when Nebraska suffered back to back losses to Minnesota & Wisconsin . It seems like you have forgotten that Nebraska won over Illinois in straight sets both at Illinois as well as at Nebraska while Wisconsin lost one set to Illinois in Madison & Illinois took Wisconsin to 5 at Illinois which really means nothing as well. Your reasoning about the number of lost sets in the last 12 matches means absolutely nothing. I don't think that was a coincidence that he arrived at the definition being over the past 12 matches. At the end of the day both are playing exceptional volleyball, and I think Nebraska is playing as well as anyone.

This is what I expected, and stated several times..........not as a PSU hater but as a realist. You cannot lose a top 2 setter and your two key floor defensive players and not have like replacements and expect to be at the same level.
When PSU has lost this year it has been the same problem.........passing & inexperienced setter.
Hancock was just so much more than the #2 setter. She was the # competitor, had a component to her game beyond setting that was a total deal changer. Teams literally feared Hancock, opponents spent more time preparing, worrying about what she did than maybe any player in the country. You are of course correct, they lost arguably the two biggest components to the game, passing/setting, and didnt replace that with anything close to that level. And they're still pretty darned good! Did you get this from The Matrix? This certainly makes it look like the ball was down. As I said, nothing I saw, or was shown to the TV audience showed that the call on the play was clearly wrong. Maybe the official did see this still? I wouldnt have overruled based on what Big Ten tv showed us.

That ball was down! (Click to enlarge.) No it was not. That photo shows nothing conclusive. Sorry.

The picture is from the TV feed, around 1:15 in. The still, as it says, is from 1:17:03.

If you were looking at this from the net, you'd see Pierce back and to the left of the ball. Back and to the left.

Yes. They enlarged the shot and stopped it, while the female announcer said "That ball is clearly up." Beats me what she was looking at.
The problem is that the image blurs. But the ball is clearly contacting the floor, imo.

I will have to watch the video to see the dig trajectory to see if it jives with the pic.

It was a serve, so a pass. And it WAS a line drive at the feet of the front row players. But it doesn't change the fact it's off the floor.

If there is one thing that has been a little overlooked with Glass, Carpenter, Hancock, it's their ability to set consistent tempo balls to the LS. It took Hancock a long time to get to that point, but she was very good in her junior and senior years. She was really good in her sophomore year too, but an ankle injury to Hancock in the national semis against Oregon probably cost PSU another finals appearance.

I have never heard of having a match-up like this one and people spend almost the entire match talking about a video concerning one point. Was the match that boring that you had nothing else to talk about?
